Review summary

The breeze treated us quite well. The cruise director, Schwartz was very high energy and did his best to keep everyone entertained. This was our second consecutive cruise on Carnival after sailing a couple other brands and I don't have any complaints. The service was great and the staff is very friendly, seems like they are always smiling! We don't let things get to us and try to go with the flow and just enjoy the experience. This was another great cruise experience!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We purchased the transportation from Hobby Airport. It was very well organized, we felt like we were taken care of. Very convenient, met the Carnival representatives by the bag claim and they took care of us. Best thing is that you go straight to check-in as soon as you get to Galveston, don't have to wait for your check-in time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I was very satisfied with the main dining room food and service. The pace was great, they didn't drag it out. We had late dining and were finished within 1 1/2 hours every night. The serving team worked well together and made us feel welcomed. We didn't do any specialty dining except we did try Cucina Del Capitano for lunch and I wasn't very impressed but my wife liked it. Buffets were great. Mongolian Wok was very good. The Hot Dog stand was rarely open but we finally got a hot dog there on the last day and enjoyed it.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the mini golf and the ropes course. They were great for a diversion. Wanted to try the slides but didn't want to wait in line. One problem was the weather wasn't always too favorable, so when it was sunny and warm, everyone wanted to do the slides.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The comedy shows were very good. We had 4 or 5 different comedians during the 7 day cruise and I really liked the variety. I only went to two out of the four production shows and they were very good. The singers could sing better than most cruises I have been on.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I think the service from waiters and stewards really stood out. In my opinion, Carnival really shines in this area.

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was comfortable, not luxurious or anything, but adequate with lots of storage. The bed was very good, the cove balcony was a plus, so close to the water which we loved.

First time in Galveston. Looks like there is a lot of history here, would love to explore someday.

Cozumel, Mexico

Great port for shopping and going to a private beach. Lots to choose from.

Went to Mayan ruins, Lamanai. A full day but worth it.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Did zip line and Tabyana Beach. Highly recommend this one. The coral reef at this beach is amazing.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
The debarkation experience was one of the only negative experiences of this cruise. We had a fog delay so when we finally got into port, It took forever to disembark. Missed our flight but did eventually get home. Not Carnival's fault at all, but I am rating my experience.
