Review summary

We had a good time on the cruise because it was a vacation.  We were away from school, work and other daily routines.  However, I started cruising in the early 90s and they are not like what they use to be.  The food was so much better tasting with more variety back then.  Now, I feel that they just throw food together and give to us saying "they’ll eat it".  A lot of the food was not seasoned properly and some stuff was like slop.  Also, the service has gone down.  We did not get turn down service in the afternoons and I am a VIP traveler.  The problem with Carnival is the service and food is going down but the prices keep increasing.  But, if you don't care about these things a cruise is still one of the best values going for a vacation.

PS:  I have to give a shout out for Guy's Burgers.  They are so good.  I have to say getting Guy's Burgers is one of the best decisions Carnivals made in a long time.

I feel that they just throw food together and give to us saying "they’ll eat it". A lot of the food was not seasoned properly and some stuff was like slop. It was not appealing to the eye at all.

Entertainment

I like the Vegas style shows over the new style they have now. Maybe they could mix the two.

Cabin was clean. You need to have turn down service at night. That is one of the things that make you feel special on the ship. To come to the room after dinner and a show and see the bed turn down with the towel animal is so special.

Ship tip

Just remember that paying for the cruise is just the start of the costs. The ship automatically tack on daily tips $12 or $15 per person, if you want to purchase pictures they are $21 for a 8x10 and $11 and $15 for the smaller ones, and if you want to go on any excursions they cost also.

Totally agree with everything you said!

The tips are added to your account and you have the opportunity to pay these before you cruise. This isn't a shocker unless your TA failed to tell you about it. If you are a season cruiser, you would know this.

I suspect that pretty much every cruiseline that tried to keep doing it how they did in the 90's either went broke or was snatched up for cheap by a more dynamic company.

Vip travelers shouldn't book on a tourist cruise. There are cruise companies that cater to VIP travelers.
