Review summary

We had a good trip however we are not excited to book another cruise. We missed the port of Grand Cayman due to weather. That was quite upsetting. Also, the entire second floor, where our cabin was located, smelled rather foul for most of the trip. It was quite unbearable in certain spots. We were also unimpressed with the cluster of a carnival excursion. There were way to many people, it was supposed to be a 2 hour excursion and lasted over 5 hours. We were nearly late to the boat almost running to get back on time.

The best thing about the trip was the food. We really enjoyed the variety offered. All of the staff on board was very friendly. There is always something to do.

Our cabin was clean and had a great balcony view. The bed was kind of hard.

Ship tip

There is always a line for whatever you wanna do. You need to get in line a half hour early to get a seat at the comedy club.

I have stayed on the first floor on all my cruises and never had a smell like you're speaking of. I have only sailed the Magic and the Dream. Both ships was wonderful, we have booked the Breeze and I don't anticipate any problems since it's Carnival always have had a fun and great cruise, with wonderful people on board.

We've been on the second floor cove balconies 3, separate times once on this boat Never had a problem. Enjoy your trip!

I've stayed on the first floor twice and also encountered horrible smell during part of the cruise. It was a sewage like smell.

The smell is usually worse on 2nd and sometimes 1st floor (12 cruises). You have to remember your on a floating contained hotel. Smells will happen. As far as excursions go if you aren't happy all you have to do is speak with guest services. As long as it's a Carnival excursion and your reasonable about it they will usually work with you to remedy it. Don't let smells and a bummer excursion sway you from Carnival. They are by far the most fun cruise line.

I would suggest reporting your disappointment to Carnival excursions department ASAP ... They may reimburse you some of the cost.

I agree with the lack of organization on the Carnival excursions. Ours started late, ended early & was extremely disorganized. We're going 3rd party from now on. We still love Carnival. Just not the excursion department. Stay on a higher floor and you shouldn't have the smell issue.

Interesting. we have been on 5 cruisers and never had these experiences except the smell but only for a day. did you book a carnival excursion or book one on your own? Also wether is unpredictable so on that note you get what you get. unfortunate for your first cruise but its not for everyone.
