Review summary

The Breeze is the largest carnival ship we have cruised.  We have also cruised the Ecstacy and the Triumph in the past.  While we enjoyed our cruise, the crew seemed to be very moody, tired, and/or understaffed.  We attributed it to their late arrival into port and a very quick turn-around, no breathing time.  Our room was cleaned late into the evening and in the past we were used to once in the morning and once in the afternoon.  The waiters on deck 11 were down to one and our waiter Mr. Gede was busting his tail, and a lot of fun - but seemingly responsible for the entire deck.  The Maitre D in our Dining Room - Blush - was very stand-offish and rude when we walked in each night, but put on a show the last night on the ship.  However, our wait staff was amazing.  The food on this trip was sub par - and Guys Burgers were the best part of the ship.  The famous chocolate melting cake was served cool every night.  Honestly, the staff just seemed overwhelmed and exhausted.  This may have been near the end of their tour for some of them.  We had a good time, because we made it such - but were more impressed with the welcoming attitudes of the staff on previous experiences with other ships.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Very tired. But Mr. Gede was MOST excellent!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
There was a sewage smell on 5 aft and 10 aft during the entire cruise. Walking past those areas was almost nauseating. We understand it to have been an a/c problem?

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was quiet and the view was excellent.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Do an excursion here if you want to see the island. We never got out of the port, and I am wishing we would have done something here.

Belize City, Belize

The ruins are FANTASTIC!!!! And the tour guides are EXCELLENT. Definitely a MUST DO.

Cozumel, Mexico

Great for relaxing - and partying at Senior Frogs. We have been to Cozumel several times, now it's more of a "rest stop" for us.

We've been on the Breeze 3 times and our waitstaff was amazing. We did notice they are understaffed but they worked so hard to take care of all their tables. Our last cruise on Breeze was in August. We leave Sunday on the Breeze. I hope we experience much better service than you have.

We did our 3rd cruise in November of '16 and I'll say we felt the same way in the MDR. We ended up only going 3 of the 7 nights because it takes so long and we would end up getting sleepy sitting in there for 2 1/2-3 hours. I don't wanna feel rushed but I don't wanna spend that long at dinner either. Our 2 previous cruises were on the Triumph and we never seemed to spend more than an hour at dinnertime.

How long ago was your cruise? My hubby and I are hooked in July, and I do not want to end up with negative experience.

We quit eating in the MDR about 3 cruises ago. It's not the same as it was years ago. But I do LOVE sea day brunch. I will say we do like seeing everyone get all fancied up for elegant night in the MDR. We don't partake but just observe.

I do not know what the heck is up with the dining rooms. They cut back so much on the Breeze, is was just sad! Yes, they do work their tails off, but Carnival needs to take care of that situation. We only ate twice in the dining room because we had to wait so long for everything! Thanks for the reminder.... I wanted to write a review about that situation, or let them know. Don't cut back on dining staff. Really sad.
