Review summary

This was my second cruise, but first time on this ship and we visited Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel! We left out of Galveston and was on it for 7 days. This ship was a lot nicer than the first one I went on (the first being the Triumph), and overall I had a really wonderful time.

Very nice crew members all over the ship, and for the majority of the trip we had super smooth sailing. We had 2 days at sea before Jamaica and in Jamaica we were going to do a Carnival excursion about Top 10 Locations in Montego Bay. Unfortunately, Jamaica is just as sketchy and scary as everyone else has said. We only stopped at 3 places, all shopping areas with increasingly worrisome people and places.

The first stop had the cheapest items and was relatively safe feeling, our tour guide was very nice and watched over all of us carefully. There were people offering us items along the shopping center, but it was all very casual, and we picked up our lunch (jerk chicken or jerk pork with 2 hush puppy-like things, it was delicious!) that we were going to take to the next location to eat.

The second location was the nicest one, and maybe most expensive, we just found a place to sit and eat our lunch and then walk around for a little bit. The third location was the absolute sketchiest and unsafe feeling one out of the three. From the minute we got off the bus we saw questionable looking individuals: women yelling at me asking if they could braid my hair, men trying to hand us a packet of some sort of drugs (I'm assuming it's marijuana, or at least what they're selling it as), and other men who purposefully dressed like the tour guides to try and get us to go into their stores. Then we quickly got back onto our tour bus, and they drove us back to the boat and that was that.

I personally would never, ever go back to Jamaica, but should you decide to go despite these reviews this is what I would suggest: pick an excursion offered by Carnival and absolutely do NOT explore Jamaica on your own. Jamaica was incredibly beautiful from the ship, but being there was kind of the worst. Definitely not worth the $90 I paid, I would rather stay on the ship next time and take advantage of pools/hot tubs while most people are gone.

Next stop was Cayman Island (CI), and it was hands down my favorite this year. We woke up early (around 5:30) to go out and swim with sting rays. Such docile, slippery and sweet creatures and super cool to hang out with! I would definitely recommend an excursion with them, and CI seemed safe enough that you might be able to find a good excursion with someone besides Carnival. Absolutely beautiful waters and also quite a pretty city/town as well, however, I believe that Carnival offers a swim with the turtles excursion, but the excursion is at a turtle farm (like, one where turtles become food), so if that's something that might bother you you might not want to go for that particular excursion.

Third and final stop was in Cozumel, and we went to the same beach club this year as I went on my other cruise. The place was great, had reasonably priced massages, as much food/drinks as you want for free, was beach front but also had a great pool and hot tub, both right by the bar.

Food on the ship was slightly less good than my first cruise, but both had great entertainment, plus the Breeze has a Serenity deck strictly for 21+ with a couple hot tubs to chose from. Shout out to the sushi restaurant on board Bonsai Sushi (they had a boat of sushi with rolls, nigiri, and a phenomenal salad for only $22), as well as a shout out to Christine at Piano Bar 88, and comedienne Diane Ford! As I said in the title I liked the cruise so much that I've already reserved a ticket to go back next year (it's going to be the Eastern Caribbean tour instead of the Western one, but still 7 nights and on the Breeze), and potentially one of the greatest things of all about this boat was how quick and easy getting on and off the boat was.

The longest wait we had was at the very beginning, but it wasn't a crazy unreasonable amount of time-- in fact it was much shorter than the first cruise, and after our number was called we got off the boat incredibly quickly (less than 30 minutes), and actually got back to our car 20 minutes earlier than we anticipated, it was great!

Tl;dr Great boat, okay/slightly above average food, wonderful staff, painless entry and exit, would skip Jamaica and take advantage of a less crowded boat, swim with sting rays!, try the sushi joint, and have a good time!

Ship tip

The Breeze was a great ship, very nice and pretty recently built, which shows. Bring a jacket because the ship is pretty cold, but other than that I can't think of much else to say!

Not a super great city, but not the end of the world by any means.
