Review summary

The Carnival Breeze cruise director, Matt,  was a great host and creative (not annoying or sleep walking like several others - e.g. woohooo!).  The crew was great in the dining areas and around the cabins... very friendly and extremely helpful.  All 6 in our party thought the food on this cruise was the best of any of our previous 4 crusise.  Pizza especially good (wish we could find a thin crust pizza restaurant around our town that was even close).  Cabin 7064 was well kept, nice and quiet.  Lots of fun for all.  This was a great cruise and I would do it again.

My only negative comment is, the  La Romana Dominican Republic port  was a waste of time and effort because there was nothing within easy walking distance of the ship's port  and the cab fare for 6 @ $15per person was gouging.  However, it was interesting to pull up at the dock and see all 3 baseball fields in use at 8 am.  However, I recommend avoiding cruises that dock at  La Romana Dominican Republic unless the price is crazy low.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Best overall regular food of any of our previous cruises, especially pizza

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Need to add a couple more cornhole set ups. Really enjoyed dodge ball and volleyball, though the vollley ball needs to weed out the tall guys spiking the short girls...not sure how you can do that though.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Commedians in general were much more clevar and funny during the family show vs. the adult show. One commedian reminded me of my days in middle & high school standing around with the guys laughing about passing gas and deffication (not sure you would publish my regular words). Really appreciate the ones who are truly clevar and do not rely on throwing around the word F... to get a laugh.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship seems to be nearly new.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was great, clean and quiet. Our cabin person had a hard time keeping the balcony clean because of the aft-draft ash from the ship's smoke stack and burning. Sometimes we had to go in when the smoke draft was too strong. Recommend trying a side balcony.

Ship tip

Recommend trying a side balcony. Our rear balcony seemed to get numerous whiffs of the smoke from the ships stack even in (or maybe because of) high winds.

La Romana, Dominican Republic

Expensive cab ride and nothing really close. However, you can walk to town (~15 minutes) though the people at the front gate are reluctant to tell you that. There were plenty of police watching the streets.

Willemstad, Curacao

Wish the boat was there first thing in the morning (not noon) and stayed longer into the evening.

Oranjestad, Aruba

Rented a car and had an awesome time driving around to snorkle at a couple different beaches.

I have been to the Dominican Republic by by plane not by ship.  I stayed in a beautiful resort.  The problem with many ports is that there really isn't much to do around the immediate vicinity of the port.  If the ship shore excursions are too expensive, try to arrange one over the Internet privately.
