Review summary
This is one of Carnival's better ships. There were no bad smells or leaky decks and everything in the cabins was fine. The neutral colors make for a pleasant experience. We spent equal time on deck and in activities. There were plenty of lounging choices including the serenity deck. The Motown show was very good and the first two comedians were very good. We enjoyed Aruba and Curacao a lot, Grand Turk was okay and we don't anticipate returning to the Dominican Republic for safety reasons. We toured at every port and de-embarkation was simple and quick.
Guy's Burger Joint was tasty, the Indian restaurant and Mongolian Wok were both tasty. The food in the main dining room was hit or miss, but generally okay. You can always find something good to eat on a Carnival ship.
Our room stewards were excellent and very responsive to our needs. The weakest area of service was in the dining room; the Maitre'd wasn't great and we had to relocate twice in the blush dining room before getting the best wait staff.
I reccomend this boat and itinerary with the exception of the Dominican Republic. There was an attempted robbery on our open-air tour bus as we passed the downtown area heading back to the boat. This happened after touring the countryside even though we had an armed security escort. Carnival was nice enough to give us a refund for the tour.
