Review summary
The Caribbean Princess ship is just average as cruise ships go. The Food was good generally and one night it was excellent. I like being able to order omelets for breakfast, and the sea food dinner and escargot was excellent. Generally the service around the ship was very good, and always friendly. A couple of the waiters in the the Island Dinning room had serious problems communicating with their broken English. We were on the 'Anytime' Dinning plan and would not do that again. Some nights we had to wait up to 30 minutes to be seated, and we were willing to sit with other parties. There was not 'really' a walking area on board the ship for walkers. They used the 7th and 8th decks as a make shift walking area, but it was also inhabited by runners, smokers, workers and loiters. Going up and down the stairs on each cycle is not good for senior walkers. We arrived at the pier at 2:30 PM for the embarkation and getting aboard was fast and easy. Unfortunately getting off the ship was a nightmare. Between Princess and Customs we stood in lines dragging all of our baggage for 40 minutes and then had no place to put the luggage while we got out car for pick up. We had a 10:10 schedule debarkation and finally got our luggage in our car about 12:15. Guess what we were fighting lines of people boarding the ship for the next cruise. I will not cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale again. This was a SAD, SAD ending to an otherwise good cruise.Ship experiences

Ship tip
No place to walk! Do not use 'Anytime Dinning'! You have to get up at 7 AM to get a lounge chair on the Lido Deck near the pools. If you drive to and park at Ft Lauderdale Port, getting off the ship is a nightmare.
