Review summary

Overall it was an ok cruise. Didn’t really feel like the cruise staff were that involved. Lack of daily announcements and uplifts from the cruise director. In fact we hardly saw him around! Most of the staff were friendly enough. Good wasn’t great which was the only disappointment

Embarkation

5 out of 5
As a couple with an infant when queuing up for check in we were waived to the priority queue which was really good as the normal line was huge. My parents were in the normal queue for nearly hour.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining room menu was not very exciting. They were very accommodating towards our 11 month old though. Each evening we checked the menu and it just sounded very bland. The buffet was 50:50. Being a British ship catering towards Brit I loved their hot puddings (think old school jam sponges with custard). However I felt that other choices were pretty much the same each night. It was just a constant rotation of curry each night and one roast. The children’s tea buffet however was great for my little one, however for kids, some foods were just too oily/salty. Also there was no fresh crusty rolls onboard

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The activities for young children was great. They had infant/toddler classes everyday for those too young to attend the youth clubs. There was a nursery room with lots of toys for those under 3 to play with and a pop up soft play that was open all the time in one of the meeting rooms. The shows in the theatre were ok. All the art/craft sessions came at a few whereas on like MSC it is free.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was a bit narrow our pram just fit. The gap between the end of the bed and the wall wasn’t that wide. Balcony was ok but smaller than standard balconies. Bathroom was a little narrow too. Wardrobe and drawer space was decent. USB sockets by the bed and lamps would be helpful.

Ship tip

For this with infants & toddlers it is a great ship from the facilities they supply, baby equipment and entertainment. For adults I felt the food was lacking and so was the entertainment in comparison to other cruise lines I’ve been on.

Ports of call

La Coruna, Spain

Gijon, Spain

The port provides a free shuttle bus into town as it’s an industrial port. The queue for the bus back was long though

We don't use the buffet often, but on the few occasions we did we found plenty of salads, fish and seafood - fried and cold, cold meats and pastas, as well as a wide choice of breads, cheese and biscuits, cakes, tarts and yoghurts. I'm not saying you're wrong, but perhaps it depended on what time you were there? We visited at lunchtime mostly, or late evening, if my husband got the munchies! Agree with the MDR though, the menu has been the same for years!
