Brillance of the seas should be called Dimmer of the sa by ltainie333

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Brillance of the sea is no more. Ship is dated. Better entertainment is needed and a diversity of food as well. The photographers only has three poses. I bought the package and all my pictures have the save three poses. My picture are three quarters by beautiful shoes were cut off. What a disappointment

Loved this itinerary and want to go back. All of the ports had interesting tours available. We really enjoyed our days at sea as well. We highly recommend this cruise.

Great trip overall. We enjoyed the excursions, entertainment. The food was very good. We wish we would have frequented the dining room more often than we did.

Good size ship; Great ports; Fantastic Show; Wonderful experience would repeat this cruise. by BusyCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Civilized clientele. Guessing 50% Europeans (mostly British), 40% Americans and Canadians. 10% from other continents. Mostly couples and young families ages 30s-60s. Some young kids but not too many for an August sailing. I would do this cruise or a similar one again.

A Memorable Experience! by Navpreet

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We had a memorable experience! The staff was especially great!! Imade (our room steward) Gabriel, Igede, Glenn (our waiter staff) were absolutely fabulous! The Cruise line is lucky to have such dedicated employees who went above and beyond to make us feel so special! They are a treasure for any company to have!

Great ports, OK ship by mbakonyi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Ports were great, but the ship itself was not nearly as nice as other ships we have been on. Also, the WiFi was the worst we have ever experienced on a ship. Go for the ports and realize the ship is just the means to get to great places.

Mediterranean sea by debyrooney

The ports chosen on this particular cruise were amazing I would highly recommend doing your own sure excursion not booking it through Royal Caribbean because we have much more success with way less money spent. The food on this trip was just OK it wasn't great . We desperately wish the ice cream machine was on 24 hours a day because every time I went to get ice cream it wasn't functioning it only on during food service hours. The disco really needed a DJ that and you have to spin music because he wasn't able to play any requests it seemed that he just had a particular  check that he had to play and was difficult to keep people on the dance floor and keeping the party having fun. They could've used many more bartenders because it took forever to get a drink. The dining staff and the room stored were absolutely amazing and the rest of the stuff is tremendously friendly. But my daughter got sick and was quarantined and they would not allow her to be quarantined in our room with the balcony and made her stay in her inside cabin several days therefore she missed seeing the sights what she could've easily seen out the window and it would've made it much more tolerable

Great Cruise by MarioDuarte

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe

The restaurant staff were very attentive.  The stateroom cleaning supervisor was excellent, she was very attentive, friendly and professional.  The shop attendants were very helpful.  One of the Casino attendants (can't remember his name, but he was from Honduras) was not friendly at all.

The food at the main restaurant was excellent, except the Lobster bisque.

The shows were good and Clo, the cruise director was excellent.  She was funny, friendly and professional.

Italy, France & Spain cruise by marylouivey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe

I would have to say my favorite port was Cannes,  It was a beautiful city and the tour was exceptional highlighting all the wonderful attractions there.  Of course, Rome was truly magical but having been there before, I found it even busier with all the tourists so it was not as enjoyable as I remember it the first time.  It was my grandson's first visit there, however, and he was in awe at all the history that surrounds you there.  It was a wonderful cruise in all respects.

Gives A Taste Of Multiple European Cities by roywinters6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We like cruising.  There is no hauling baggage from place to place, food, entertainment, friendly staff and social activities abound.  You only get a taste of places you stop at though, as you always need to keep in mind getting back to your ship early in the day (usually around dusk).

This ship is one of the best, though its age shows here and there.  Medium size (with ~2,400 Passengers), it was clearly designed with engaging and entertaining the passengers in mind.  I would judge the majority of passengers as older on this 12 day cruise.

A bit on the down side.  They really try to sell you a lot of stuff on this ship.  There is an extra (and substantial) charge to use their "specialty" restaurants, drinks (particularly alcoholic), laundry and any other services (such as skin care, massage & such. There is plenty of food included in the price of admission which makes these extras optional).  The on board shops lean toward jewelry, perfumes, art and the like, most expensive.   We also miss the ice and chocolate sculptures, and carved fruits/vegetables that we have seen on previous cruises.

All in all, I could recommend this ship and this cruise.  I want to go again.

Wonderful Trip But Improvements Needed by luftmm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The ports we stopped in were all beautiful.  Royal Caribbean cancelled one port and changed us from Turkey to another Greece port.  They cancelled two of our excursions due to lack of numbers.  Very disappointing since you are international with no internet so no way to book with other company.  Everyone at our dinner table had at least one excursion cancelled.  Evening entertainment -- there were not enough options.  The shows were not very good and certainly not up to the shows you see on their larger ships.  All the excursions we booked through Hilton Honors were wonderful.  Santorini - if you go be sure to book a private tour with Markos of SantoriniExperts by far our best guide of the week.  Took us to the places we should go and then to places he wanted us to see - local family farm which was amazing.  Be sure to ride the donkeys up (don't listen to what they tell you on the ship); it was a blast.  If you do this cruise -- consider staying off ship in Florence and taking train to Rome.  You will have expense of train and hotel but much more time to see Rome.  We did not do it because we thought of it too late but we talked with a couple that did it.  Pisa was a pleasant surprise -- thought you would see only leaning tower but much more in the plaza.  If you want to see a lot in a little time, the cruise was great because of the ports.  The entertainment and the nickle and diming to death on the ship really hurts Royal's reputation.  Many of the folks on our cruise were disappointed with Royal but not the service of the workers or the ports we went to.

My opinion about the cruise. by beatrice91

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

My opinion of the cruise was excellent, I enjoyed the food, the kind and helpful people who worked on the cruise.  Italy was more than I expected.

I appreciated the invitation to visit the area of the ship where the food was prepared. What a tremendous job being done there.

Spain trip by klb23847

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

Our favorite part of the cruise was being able to just relax for 14 days.  This was our first transatlantic sailing and we loved it.  The time went by fast.  The ports of call were all beautiful even if the weather didn't always cooperate.  The food was excellent and the service was exceptional.

INCREIBLE!!!! by tattywillie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

EL VI,AJE ESTUVO BUENO AUNQUE CON ALGUNAS INCONVENIENCIAS, COMO EL TIEMPO ETC, QUE NO ERA CULPA DE NADIE. SI NOS MOLESTO QUE LA ULTIMA NOCHE FORMAL TODOS EN LA MESA ( 6 PERSONAS)  ORDENAMOS LANGOSTA EN LA CENA (SECOND SITTING) LUEGO DE ESPERAR UN BUEN RATO NOS INFORMARON QUE LA LANGOSTA SE HABIA ACABADO Y NOS OFRECIERON POLLO. ALGO INCREIBLE , NO SE PLANIFICO LA CANTIDAD DISPONIBLE Y APARECIA EN EL MENU. AUNQUE NOS DIERON SUS EXCUSAS NOS SENTIMOS MOLESTOS. LOS POBRES MOZOS NO ENCONTRABAN QUE HACER. ESPERAMOS ESTO NO SE VUELVA A REPETIR

?First time on Royal Caribbean by MMurrah

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

Unlimited internet was a definite plus.

Windjammer hours not satisfactory...why would it be closed at times of need when nowhere else was open for a late lunch on a port day??

Room steward was AWESOME... probably the best of any of our 20+ cruises.

Dining room service was great.

The performers were AWESOME...best of any of our cruises.

The food was like College cafeteria food by ordord

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The people that we met on the cruise was the best part of it. We were told by the chef staff that the reason why the food wasn't up to par is that there was 480 children on board so they made it more for  children . So the rest of the 2200 people had to suffer for the lack in food for the children hot dogs and hamburgers and sandwiches. That food to me is not Cruise food. Really would not go on another Royal Caribbean because of that factor. And there was no exterior bar open past 8:30 in the evening. You're on a cruise to enjoy the air to Sky and the breeze did not have that at night. If your a smoker it takes you ten minutes to get out to a smoking area. I'm not a smoker but all the people I was with are. I could have had a better meal at Wendy's.
