This was one of our favorite cruises. We met a lot of new friends. I liked the smaller atmosphere on this cruise. The food was great, entertainment great and our excursions were wonderful.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
The embarkation was good in Cozumel. However, having to take the tender boats in Grand Cayman took more time. If you have an excursion besides Royal make sure to get one of the first tender tickets. Go where they are passing them out and wait before they start passing them out. We almost missed out excursion due to not being one of the first in line for tickets.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We ate in the main dinning room and buffets. The food was good. I would highly recommend the beef tenderloin when they offer it. It was out of this world.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We did not do a lot on the cruise. We hung out at the pool, walked on the track and listened to the music in the center of the boat, a lot.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We only went to one stage show. I am not a huge musical fan, but we went. The singers, costumes and sets were great. Just not our thing. The DJ's and the musicians were fantastic. Thrill Seekers were amazing. We sat and listened and danced to them multiple times on this cruise.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
We had excellent service all the way around. It was different than past cruises. There is definitely not as many employees, so it did slow it down some, but still great service.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship is smaller, which was kind of nice for a change. You could get to everything easy and quickly. It is an older ship and there were a few issues with some of the main bathrooms, but they seem to be working on them.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We had a balcony. It was very roomy. It had lots of storage and was very nice.
This port was nice. Lots of shopping. They will try to get you to come into their shops. They can be a little pushy but we just walked by them. We did the mini sub excursion through cruises only. It was the absolute best excursion we have ever done. They were so friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. I can't say enough about this very cool, awesome and unforgettable excursion.
Plan ahead here. You will have to take tender boats. It is a slow process at first. Make sure you get an early tender ticket if you have an excursion. Don't wait until they open. Get there before they start giving them out. They got their faster as the morning went on.
Again the Tampa port authorities were not friendly and really rushed you out. There was a huge line to get off of the ship. Royal did ok with getting us off. I think they could have waited a little longer between calling each group to disembark. The line went fairly fast. I think we ended up being in line about 20-25 minutes before we got off the ship.
