Brilliance of the Seas

5 Night Western Caribbean (Tampa Roundtrip)

Review summary

After 9 cruises, this is still my favorite ship! The larger ships are a lot of fun, but the smaller radiance class offers a level of intimacy lacking on the oasis or quantum class ships. I highly recommend this class for couples!

Embarkation

This has been my smoothest embarkation experience of all my cruises. Quick and easy on and off!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
As always, food was exceptional. The bar experience was a lot of fun. This was the only cruise I’ve taken where I took full advantage of the drink package and worked my way down all the bar menus, trying every drink on board! The bartenders enjoyed the experience and were great sports, helping me with this lofty goal!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Not as much to do on board, compared to other ships, but that’s part of the appeal. This ship is laid back and relaxing, perfect for couples.

Ship Quality

I love this class of ship! The aft windjammer is the best I’ve seen on any ship...such a relaxing place to eat or drink a cup of coffee, watching the wake. Another feature on this ship that beats the others is the fitness center/sauna. The facilities are larger and nicer than most, plus they’re free!

Ship tip

I wouldn’t recommend this ship for families with kids, but it’s perfect for a couples getaway. The smaller, more intimate atmosphere is perfect for romance!

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

Been here several times and always love it. The sole reason we scheduled this particular cruise was because my wife asked for her birthday dinner to go to Coconuts on the eastern shore of Cozumel to eat their nachos!

Tampa, Florida

Not much to do here, but the port is great. We drove a little south and stayed on Sanibel Island and that has become one of our favorite places, returning several times.
