Review summary

We choose this cruise because of the ports and tours.  We did a tour in every city, so did not do a lot on the ship.  We liked the smaller ship, but were a little disappointed overall.  We have been on larger ships and this is billed as the top of the line and we just didn't see it.  We had not cruised for 13 years, so maybe the next level is not as good now as it was then.  If you like the iteniary, the tours and guides are fabulous.  It is also fun to meet people from all over the world!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
A little challenging to get the speciality restrurants on the night desired, everyone wants to go on sea days. The food was all very good and the buffet was great, for a buffet!!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The lectures on each port were very good and educational. Suggestion: Have bar service in the laundry room. Since it was so warm, we had to wash clothes several times. There was always a gathering in the laundry room, make it an activity!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Know that the complementary wine served is a different wine each night, not a choice of house wines.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our cabin staff were wonderful (Mark and his partner)! The staff on deck 4 had challenges with money exchange and customer service

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We liked the smaller ship. Met people from at least 12 different countries and saw them many times during the trip.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
If you get upgraded to this cabin, take it! The only things to consider are it is at the back of the ship and the patio gets soot from the engines. On our iteniary, it was too warm to sit out most days anyway, so soot did not bother us.

Ship tip

It is hot and humid in most of these ports. Be sure to plan for this. Bring a hat and sunscreen. The tours and ship provide water. The information given about what to wear to visit the temples was conflicting. Be prepared with clothes to cover your shoulders and legs.

Ports of call

Singapore

5 out of 5
If you can't afford to stay at the Marina Bay Sands, go for lunch at Sky on 57. For about the same price, you can have a wonderful lunch and a great view!

Ko Samui, Thailand

5 out of 5

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam

5 out of 5
There could be rough seas between Saigon and Da Nang

Hue (Da Nang), Vietnam

5 out of 5
Do visit Hoi An

Hong Kong

5 out of 5
Find out where the ship will be docked and then decide where you want your hotel in HK to be. Be prepared for lots of people in the streets. We were very impressed with The Pottinger Hotel and highly recommend it.

We started cruising 14 years ago and the service and quality has gone down hill quickly over that time. What was included before is a charge now or in a package you pay for. It's only to make the cruise look cheaper.
