Review summary

Enjoyed the intimate nature of the small ships in terms of passengers. This particular boat held 127 max. but only 77 people were on board. The culture of the villages in the small towns that we stopped in was evidenced in presentations that were held on the ship prior to or right after land excursions.

Given the average age of the passengers, there were no children's programs. I believe the cruise is not recommended for children under 8.

The Ship has only been sailing for one year. This is it's second season. The rooms were well appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was well thought out. This particular vessel had the bed facing the floor to ceiling window for great viewing while traveling on the river.

Ship tip

The only tip I would give someone is regarding the tour guides in each town. It was unclear if we should tip them or not. I believe they do not work for Avalon and are independent so, we did tip each tour guide after our excursions.
