Review summary

Our first river cruise, and a pleasant introduction to Central Europe. Support staff was very good. Leadership was fair.

Embarkation

Totally fine and easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The ship was overall okay, not fabulous. No surprises or delights, but just decent food with nice people serving it.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
There are virtually no onboard activities on a river cruise.

Entertainment

Not much offered

Children's Programs

No kids on board

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The waitstaff and housekeepers were pleasant, but we are used to a level of service and interest in customer satisfaction that wasn't met.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
It was all fine. We aren't snobs. It was cleaned and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
It was as good as it gets on a river cruise.

Ship tip

If you are more familiar with ocean cruising, it is simply not the same.

Ports of call

Vilshofen, Germany

Passau, Germany

Interesting and lots to do nearby. In town walk was dull.

Linz, Austria

The Czesky Krumlov trip was outstanding, with a great guide. He was a former schoolteacher, and cared a great deal about historical accuracy and nuanced delivery.

YBBS AN DER DONAU, AUSTRIA

Durnstein castle was interesting. Richard the Lionheart was held there,

Vienna, Austria

Bad weather....so a nasty experience. Not a problem with the cruise. Vienna is a fabulous location and we love it. But the weather was truly nasty.

Bratislava, Slovakia

3 out of 5
It was okay, and the guide was okay, but low energy.

Budapest, Hungary

5 out of 5
What a fabulous city. So much history! Even though the weather was horrible, the captain cruised the Danube, and showed us sights.

Disembarkation

Uneventful
