Review summary

We did this cruise in 2017 and happily did a "rerun" (with our kids) in 2018. Would even do it again. It's a great ship and five nights is a "just right" length. Definitely recommend it!

Having now sailed on NCL, we've realized that Royal is lacking in the "lower-key" activities (karaoke, trivia, impromptu dinner theater). On Royal, we have to pre-book everything. It's kind of nice on NCL to be able to pop in and out as you're in the mood.

Entertainment

We Will Rock You is SPECTACULARLY entertaining. It was the second time we'd seen it on board, and it didn't disappoint. Spectra's Cabaret was disappointing this time. We skipped The Gift altogether -- didn't like it last year and didn't want to waste the time on it this cruise.

Try cruising on Liberty of the Seas and Adventure of the Seas. No need to prebook shows, entertainment. We have cruised on those 2 ships and enjoyed the entertainment and activities and could make decisions spur of the moment. They offered many opportunities for shows, karaoke, trivia, music, activities, etc. We are going on Anthem Saturday and had to prebook shows and and some inclusive dining on the cruise planner.
