The Anthem is awesome .... Just do your research ... And cruising out of Bayonne is great .... We've done it many times and had very smooth seas most of the time

Larger ships like the Anthem have a lot more people to accommodate in the dining venues, hence need for reservations. Perhaps you would prefer smaller, more traditional ships. My upcoming cruise in November will be my first on a megaship so listening to experience of those who had sailed on the Oasis class, I made sure to request dining times early on--when I booked the cruise and then reserved entertainment and some activities for group members as soon as I could. Clients who are long time cruisers are having some problems adjusting to the need for reservations for activities on board. It's a sheer numbers game--more people than space. Communicate frequently with your TA or the RCCL reservations specialists. Pays off in the end.

I agree. Anthem is a fabulous ship. Only problem is sailing out of Bayonne, N.J. Waters are too rough and a rocky ride. Putting that aside, if the ship sails out of Florida I'd love to sail on it again.

I was on the anthem and had the greatest time would do that ship again and it is what you make out of your vacation

Whew... that was a one sentence / 63 word review :-). One thing I learned is, if you are investing a lot of money in something you need to do your own research in advance. Health care, buying a car, a new computer and even a cruise. I am sorry when passengers like Roncom1 have a bad cruise experience - a cruise is a big investment. I would say that (compared to 10 years ago) the food quality has gone down on most cruise lines while the passenger /crew ratio has widened. Still, cruises are what you make out of them. If prepared, people can have a fun yet relaxing time - even on a ship as non-traditional as Anthem.

It's a beautiful ship, but it's not for those that are accustomed to traditional cruising. The newer ships take the relaxation and spontaneity away from you. If you don't reserve the activity you had in mind will be booked to capacity by the time you show up.
