Review summary

The best part of the cruise was visiting Bermuda for the second time. The ship was gorgeous and clean. The food was not what we were used to with Royal Caribbean cruise line. Royal Caribbean changed the format of dining and has failed miserably in and the service suffered because of it. I wasted 2 days at sea trying to  correct my Sea pass account because all my info was linked to anotjer guest and vice versa. I was highly disappointed and will never take this ship again. Service for drinks and food was less than average. Not a fan

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was not the quality we are used to on the previous 4 cruises we took through Royal Caribbean

Entertainment

5 out of 5

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Service was extremely slow. Took over 2 hrs to finish dinner. Unorganized and lacked personal touch like before.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was nice and clean.

Ship tip

Don't expect the personal touch of having the same wait staff every night and getting to know them. Waitstaff and bartenders are slow due to getting gratuity on bill of 18% so no reason to hustle. It was a huge disappointment expecially after doing 4 other cruises through Royal Caribbean.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

raward has some good points. Cost all across the board have risen and people are just wasteful because they feel they paid for it , and its just a vicious cycle of cost and supply...

Not to be a DebbyDowner, but realistically, we are all paying more for food these days. Also, consider the food waste on every cruise. Absolutely astounding! Not justifying change in food quality but keep in mind that top quality will mean even higher prices. Not to mention more staff and higher labor costs. Costs are probably comparable to other all-inclusive vacations and on a cruise, you're usually visiting more than one destination. Before you start yelling at me, please know that I am not a RCCL plant but a TA who's looking at costs to travel on a regular basis -- and prices are up across the board.

The prices are higher than ever

A passenger on the cruise i was on asked the cruise director about the food situation. The cruise director said that the quality of the food isn't what it used due be because RC is trying 2 keep prices down. My cruisemates and I got our good food when we got off the boat docked in the islands.

Yes The Anthem just has too many...problems? Inconsistencies? Dint know what to call them but a definite step down from freedom class and Voyager class ships. I'm praying they are going to get it right...soon!

I agree. When they added the specialty restaurants the complimentary food went down hill.....

The food quality has gone down since i started cruising in the late 90s. With that said. Royal never had the best food in the cruise industry...I would easily say that Princess has the best food! Royal has gone cheaper and cheaper with their options. Their cuts of meat are no longer a very high quality; however. Cruising is still a great vacation... Although it seems that they keep adding amenities but taking away food and service. This is certainly food for thought for royal as not everyone will use all the amenities on their ships. The prices go higher and higher every year... soon it will be out of reach for most people struggling to raise a family. A little off topic. I was charged full price to bring my 9 month old son last year. He was still on formula! It seems to me that royal is all about profits these days. They should make all restaurants free and put everyone on a rotating schedule so that it is smooth sailing;) as for technical difficulties I doubt you wasted 2 full days at the help desk. Maybe I was on your mind, but if you let it ruin your vacation. That is not the cruise lines fault. I plan on having fun even if the ship is forced to go to Canada instead of the caribbean!!!
