Review summary

We've been on Cunard, Celebrity, Viking, and Princess. The experience on American Cruise Lines exceeds all the others, even Viking. The food is of higher quality, the service is much more personalized, and the guest speakers are really terrific. We've also done Puget Sound and the Mississippi with ACL. If you prefer a small and more intimate ship, ACL is the way to go.

Service and Staff

Even the youngest and least experienced staff members jumped to help passengers, no matter what the issue. For instance, on the morning of disembarkation, we had kept back one carryon for our last-minute items. It should have been our responsibility to take it off with us, but as soon as we appeared at the cabin door with it, our cabin steward immediately took it from us and carried it downstairs and off the ship.

It is a small ship, so nothing is far from anything else.

Cabin / Stateroom

We were in an AAC level cabin which was quite large, with ample storage space, and a private balcony. It was immaculate when we arrived, and our cabin attendants kept it that way.

Ship tip

Dress is very informal. Although I usually changed at least my top for dinner, most guests dressed only once for the day. No need to take a lot of clothes.

We were only in the Jacksonville Airport.

Disembarkation

Very easy. We took the complimentary bus to the Jacksonville Airport, but some guests asked for taxis. That process seemed to go well, too.
