Allure of the Seas

Review summary

I feel that positive changes have to be made in order to get the ship up to par with other RCI ships. I travel on the Allure, once again, at the end of January. Hopefully some of the recommendations I made to Officers and Chefs will be taken to heart.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Not like it use to be for Diamond Plus members. Everything these days are blamed on Covid19. However, Pinnacle, Crown & Anchor members, and Key Club still have their own registration lines while Damond Plus not so as indicated.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was something less than good. The Prime Rib was difficult to cut even with a steak knife. The Shrimp and Tuna steak was served partially raw. Attempts to rectify the food issues in the dining room were well received. Desserts for diabetics were limited at best, one in the dining room and Windgammer. This was corrected by an dining room officer when brought to his attention. I had been on the Allure two months prior and the hamburgers in the Windgammer were at best, hockey pucks. This has been corrected.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I enjoyed the Casino. However, it took the table games manager almost to the last night of the cruise to realize that they should have lowered the minimum bet on the STUD POKER table to have more players.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The service received from waiters and room stewards was exceptional. The service from some of the officers, not all, was okay. It appeared at times, that the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing especially when handling sick passengers. The established protocols need to be fine tuned by officers handling these issues.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is well maintained and very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Interior cabin and very small with hardly any storage space. Okay for one person but not more.

Ship tip

Stay healthy!

Disembarkation

Seems like you were setting yourself up for a bad experience from onset. While I appreciate your review, we should be very lucky that we're actually cruising in these times. The ships crew are doing everything to make us safe and see that we have a great time on board. Patience, and a go with the flow attitude should be how we move forward when we cruise. Thank you for your review though and I'm sorry things did not work out for you.

It was a fantastic cruise as always on Royal. Was everything be absolutely perfect? No! Will I go digging to find a few things that might not have been up to par and focus on those? Absolutely not! For any shortcomings under such unusual circumstances these days, I could list 100 things that just made this sailing a fantastic cruise. Anyone contemplating a cruise right now, be flexible, keep an open mind, be compassionate, understand what the crew is enduring to make your trip full of good memories and cruise and have a great time.

We just backed out of our Feb 27th cruise… From all the reviews “and hesitation from my wife,” we canceled…

Just remember that the crews are rotating in and out as crew test poaotive for covid and are transferred off the active ships, to the quarantined ships. Those positions are bqckfilled temporarily by other active staff from the staffing pool. Some are not as up to speed on Oasis class ships and teams. Patience is key. If you dont have patiences, then dont cruise right now. They are doing the best they can with the conditions they have to work with right now.

Traveling during Covid requires patience, flexibility and lowered expectations. Things are not the same as they were pre-Covid and may never be exactly the same again.
