Review summary

We'd recently moved back to Orlando and had several things to celebrate - my pregnancy, my mom's cancer remission, and my husband's new, dream job. We decided to treat ourselves to a cruise. We chose Allure because of its child friendly amenities - the water play area, merry-go-round, and restaurants. Our research paid off and we all had an amazing time. We've already booked our next cruise on Harmony thanks to our experience.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had a suite, so we were able to take a private elevator to a separate security screening that had no line. We then got to sit on a couch while being checked-in to our room. We were traveling with two kids under four years old and I was pregnant, so this made embarkation very smooth and relaxing.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Being pregnant on this cruise, I couldn't drink alcohol. However, the staff were amazing at creating drinks for me that had no alcohol in them but were still tasty. It had the added benefit of me being able to share the drinks with my kids. My one negative is the Coca Cola Anytime Machines. 4 of the 6 are hidden in areas that are closed half the time. The other two had long lines that became longer when one of the machines broke. We ended up getting sodas at the bar most of the time, so we weren't too inconvenienced. But it is annoying when Royal Caribbean promoted the machines as a part of the drink packages and then make most of them unavailable.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
To be fair, I was pregnant and couldn't participate in most of the onboard activities. That being said, my family did do them I became the designated cameraman. What I disliked was having to wait in long lines in the sun. It would be really helpful to install some shade in these areas.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment on board was amazing. I loved that most of the shows kept the attention of my 4 and 2 year olds. Make sure you have a reservation to ensure your seat.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone on the staff were fantastic. Very friendly and willing to go above and beyond. I was floored with the concierges who answered all of our questions (and we had a lot), plus were able to accommodate all but one of our requests. For instance - I was on a special diet for my pregnancy and needed lactose free milk. The concierges made sure I had some everyday at no extra charge!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It's amazing that this is one of the largest ships in th world and it never felt like it. They did a fantastic job of breaking the ship up enough so it never felt too crowded or big.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We got an Owner's Suite and it was amazing. As a family of four, with two kids under four, this room was perfect. The kids could nap in the bedroom while the adults relaxed in the main room or the balcony. Additionally, Allure is a very exciting ship. So having a space that was quite where the kids could just sit and play was wonderful.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had a suite, so we were able to eat breakfast in the suite lounge and then got escorted off the ship. It took us five minutes to get off the ship once we were ready to leave. Wish customs was faster, but that's not Royal's fault.
