Review summary

I would do it again but not during a student holiday (we are both in education so we took the cruise during Christmas break.)

Embarkation

Much faster than I expected

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The buffet in the Windjammer was great. We ate breakfast and lunch there every day. No complaints on the food or beverage service at all. The main dining room didn't fare quite as well. Service was excellent but of the 3 nights we ate there the meat was severly lacking. The NY Strip steaks were pretty loaded with gristle and lacked good flavor. I had a baked chicken breast that had horrible texture and tasted just a bit off. The sides were fine as well as the desserts.

Windjammer Marketplace

5 out of 5

We REALLY liked the Windjammer. Great selection for any meal.

Main Dining Room

4 out of 5

Overall it was good. Service was great but had issues with the meat on 2 of our nights.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We stayed to the over 16 pool and whirlpools. They were not over crowded and we weren't bothered by too many kids around. We didn't do too much else as we were there to relax and take in the sun.

Whirlpools

5 out of 5

Temp and bubbles were fine.

Solarium

5 out of 5

No kids, not crowded most of the time. Whirlpools got a bit full at times but that's life.

Guest Services and Explorations!

5 out of 5

We had an issue with the internet and Don took great care of us. He refunded the lions share of what we had prepaid with no hassel at all.

Entertainment

There really wasn't much going on compared to other cruises I've been on.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward and waiters were exceptional. All other staff were attentive and friendly.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was fine for the price. My only real complaint was that it took FOREVER (I mean 30 minutes or more) to get hot water in the morning. So much wasted water waiting for the correct temp.

Ship tip

If you're 60+ and looking for peace and quiet DO NOT book a cruise when school is out. I didn't give that a thought and paid the price.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
I love Galveston

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
We didn't do any excursions so we didn't really get to see much.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Outstanding. Fast and efficient

Appreciate your feedback. We also learned that lesson about sailing during student holidays. Spring Break is the worst for us. Glad you enjoyed your cruise in spite of it.
