If you are thinking of booking....DONT by Chloeobe

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Having cruised with RC before on both the Liberty and the Oasis, we decided to change from the Caribbean and opted for the 7 night Arabian Cruise, which was to celebrate my sisters birthday. There were 7 of us in total, including my 2 year old nephew. We didnt bother to look at reviews etc before booking as we have always been impressed by RC...but wishing we had done some research before handing over all that money for what was one of the worst holiday experiences I have ever had. On approach to the boat, it is noticeably smaller than the others, and once on the boat you see how dated it is. There is basically nothing on board other than the cabins dining rooms and a tiny deck with the smallest pool I have ever seen. The majority of the sun loungers are broken and the towels are stained. The rooms are tiny and cramped, and the furniture is tired and stained, and we were given two single beds pushed together. We had to ask for towels on a few occasions. The rooms are so noisy that I barely slept the whole week. My sister and her partner had asked to booked a larger room as they were travelling with an infant, but were in fact greeted with a smaller room, and there two year old was given a top bunk to sleep in...!!!! After making complaints, the best option they were given was to be provided with a cot, but it meant you couldn't actually move around the cabin. We would have had more room and comfort in a caravan. The public restrooms were constantly blocked and you would have to queue to use these. You have to pay for absolutely anything decent including bottles of water in the room, even though there are no other drinking provisions within a reasonable distance to the room, and you couldnt drink the tap water as it run brown some days. In fact one day we had no water in the room at all, which when I move on the the next part you will see why this is an issue. Both myself and my partner got food poisoning from the Main Restaurant (calamari) which ruined the last two days of our trip, and when we complained to the "Guest Services" we were basically greeted with "what do you want us to do about it..if you are that ill you will need to be quarantined". No apologies or advise. I heard a few people approaching the desk with complaints and they got nowhere, or were greeted with attitude. They just seemed like they couldn't be bothered with anybody. To be honest ive had better treatment in a Premier Inn. Going back to the food, the food quality and selection on this ship is far poorer than I have ever experienced with RC. I am not a fussy eater by any standards but some nights I struggled to find anything on the menu that I wanted, and the food that was served was always a bit too cold and packed full of garlic to give it any flavour so everything just tasted the same. The meat quality is very poor compared to before, and the food just seems to be the same things but presented slightly differently. Leftovers of the night before seemed to appear the next day in the Windjammer as "specials". previously on other RC ships on the Formal dining nights you could order Fillet steaks and lobsters as standard, however these are now optional extras you have to pay for which is really disappointing. The Windjammer is an absolute free for all which you have to fight past people and queue, its like being in a soup kitchen. The food is the same every day and very little healthy options. The deserts are mainly inedible. The drinks are very expensive and i dont know who trains the staff on mixology but the cocktails are all vile, and ive never had a gin and tonic thats tasted like chanel no 5 before. I ended up sticking to bottled beer and wine as it was the only thing that you could drink. I think its disgusting you have to pay $70 for a weeks soda package, surely water down coca cola should be part of the package??? We tried to onboard entertainment and walked out of both shows as they were so bad, and the poolside entertainment made me cringe so much my teeth hurt... bell flop competitions and sexiest man in 2017..seriously??? Sunbeds are as rare as hens teeth and I witnessed a few fights breaking out over reserving them. On sailing days you have to be up at 7am and sat on your sun lounger if you have any chance of getting one. The area around the pool is so crowded with sun loungers you cant actually get near the pool. My 2 year old nephew was also told on day 2 he was not allowed in the pool as he was not toilet trained...even though he had on swim nappies/diapers. We had to take him out of the pool for the rest of the holiday. When we made a complaint about this we were told it was in the booking details so tough. We have since been through all pf the holiday spec and there is nothing that says he cant use the pool, and this was not brought to our attention when we made the booking over the phone. This ruined his and his parents holiday. They ended up PAYING $390 for WIFI for the week so that he could watch movies on the ipad as there was nothing for him to do. The fast that in 2017 we have to pay for WIFI is baffling, but surely for $390 you would expect superfast connection? No it was broken most of the time. Biggest waste of money ever. Surely there should be free WIFI at least in public areas??? The stops on the cruise are pretty pathetic also, there is NOTHING in Khasab its like a building site, and there is no way enough things to do in Muscat for 2 days. We were bored out of our minds. Ill move on to my last negative. On the second day of our trip, we were told the sad news that our grandparent (my Mums father) had died. My parents made the decision to leave the cruise early, however when the approached guest services for advise on how to do so, they were told "They dont deal with things like that". As my mum was distraught I ended up spending two hours on the phone for her sorting out travel arrangements and transfers etc. When they went to settle the bill, they were still required to pay for everything including the soft drink package and WIFI which has hardly been used. They had only been on two days. And to add insult to injury they were both charged $100 each to leave early!! How the person at Guest services had to gall to ask this of them is completely beyond me. By the end of the week on the Vision of the Seas we were all desperate to get off. I am trying to raise a formal complaint but dont seem to be getting anywhere either. So my advise...DONT BOOK!!!!

Asian Getaway by tonianorris

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Just loved unpacking our suitcases and over two weeks we visited 7 ports in 5 countries. Food was lovely and the staff were wonderful. Weather was pretty much perfect and can't wait to do the next one. Only thing I will emphasise, for this particular cruise, realise how far some of the tours are from the ports. In some cases they are nearly 3 hours each way. And some of the ports like Manila, Boracay and Kota Kinabula are easy to tour on your own by foot.Big Smile

Stayed in cabin 912. Magnificent cabin. Great bathroom, great closet. Housekeeping was amazing. My only constructive comment about cabin is the deck chairs should recline more.

What was truly outstanding on this ship was the service. It was extraordinary in both delivery and attitude. Happy

Sorry to see he go from the fleet by 1949colin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Legend of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Sadly the Legend of the Seas is being sold to another cruise line, so this cruise was part of a three separate cruise package on her final journey. Despite showing signs of her age the crew have managed to provide an excellent and friendly service, airways willing to go the extra mile to ensure your enjoyment .the food and service in all the restaurants was excellent, the entertainment was off a good quality, however the main entertainment seemed to take part in the Centrium which had limited seating and was always packed with many people having to stand therefore blocking the people who had managed to get a seats view. I struggled to understand this as a large anchors away lounge with plenty of seating was under used, often withwithno more than six people in it at one time and with very little entertainment if any. I would also recommend taking up the my time dinning option, it gives you much more flexibility and the chance to meet more fellow passengers.

UAE with MSC by paoloke

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Fantasia / Destination: Dubai & Emirates

Good itinerary.  Sir Ban Yas island is a nice in-between for a shore-day. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha are beautiful impressive cities to visit (very easy to do with taxi!). Bahrein (Manamah) was a little less.

Cracking Crew ... shame about the weather !! by lifes4living

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Did this cruise over Christmas 2015 on the MSC MUSICA & has put me off MSC for life . HOWEVER the VISION OF THE SEAS was  (although a little tired) a fantastic ship with a Crew too match !!!

Overall, I was impressed by the whole experience & would thoroughly recommend this ship, wherever she sails.

weather was atrocious but not even the Sulans can "buy that !!) ..... Having done this cruise twice I wouldn't go again but did like the cultural aspect....  There is nothing to do in Khasaab apart from the Dow cruise BUT it's well worth it @ around $25 a head & both times I've seen dolphins ....

This Could Happen to You! by techshark

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

I want to let people know about my experience on the Celebrity Millennium.  Because I complained about the horrible internet service and calling my room repeatedly after 9pm, I was (after being refused information about the purpose) summoned to Guest Relations put in a small room, interrogated and recorded on a bodycam.  When I complained to senior officers after I requested a meeting with them, I was basically told that this was fine with Celebrity and that if I complained again I would be sent off the ship so I spent the remainder of the cruise interacting as little as possible with the crew (my husband interacted including ordering my meals) as well as with other passengers.  This was a terribly upsetting experience.  I think a bit like being questioned for a crime I didn’t commit.  I woke several times in the night again upset about this and was uncomfortable just about all the time I was on the ship.  I only really felt safe when I was off the ship and am OK now that I’m home.   I wanted to share this as widely as possible so people know this can happen to them on Celebrity as I would not have cruised with them had I known this could happen.

Disappointed by factman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

On arrival at Dubai airport it took us 40 minutes before we made contact with our representatives from the ship.On arrival at ship we went for coffee self service the machine was very dirty looked like it had been wiped with a dirty cloth, drip tray overflowing and coffee cold.on entering our cabin we found hair in  the drawers and black hairs in the wash hand basin not a good start.Could not get a sun lounger after 8am as towels already on them but throughout the day no one had used the sun lounger although the sign stated any sun bed left unattended for 30 mins would be removed...this never happened.Afternoon activities belly flop competition, card making, towel folding sorry but not for me,Evening entertainment very amateur felt really let down 6 bottles of small water for room as no fridge cost 46usd found this excessive and any excursions overpriced could get a taxi tour of same itinerary for half the price at ports. The only saving grace was good food I'm sorry to be very negative but Royal Caribbean you have put me off Cruising for good 1st cruise and last.

Worst cruise ever by Ncllworstever

12 ports missed. Azipod failure resulted in being tugged back to Melborne. NCL corporate credits unacceptable and shamefully disrespectful to passengers.

Abu Dhabi to Singapore by MarRich

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

We all enjoyed the itinerary. The Constellation is an older ship and, as of our cruise, needs a lot of updating! Saying that, the staff was wonderful, pleasant and quite helpful.

Food, some nights great other mediocre and then other nights, not so good. The Oceanview Cafe had an assortment, as well as the Grill, so there were lots of choices. Again, some food better than others. I have noticed that the desserts have gone WAY DOWN!

Excursions, so so. The ones we took, really the basic ones (overviews & panoramic) were not the greatest. The guides were NOT very good and left people behind as well as, when out of the bus, only talked the the small group of people within earshot!

We are loyal Celebrity cruisers, Elite Plus, but have noticed that the perks for being loyal have definitely gotten less. I guess there are too many of us now!

All in all, we enjoyed ourselves but did want to let people know there were some negatives.

Bun fight at the Winjammer corral by docharv

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Most times it was almost impossible to find a vacant table at the Windjammer buffet,  particularly breakfast time.

We tried lots of different times but anytime between 8am and 10.00 was packed. As it changed to lunch at 11am we sometimes waited till then and made breakfast into a brunch but of course lots of people had the same idea so you again had to be quick/lucky in the table hunt.

Even most evenings meant frustrating treks around looking for a table before you could eat. Sure there were other places to eat but we wanted the buffet and so apparently did everyone else !!!!!!!

Realy spoiled the whole cruise.
