Great trip by bcoodey611

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We had a wonderful time.  Everything was great.  The food, entertainment, the ports, all were excellent.  I will be recommending this to others.  The staff were all friendly and helpful.  Every port offered something to see.  I would highly recommend the Seahorse Factory at Kona.  It was very informative and interesting.  That was one of the highlights of our trip.

Unfortunately, this is the only cruise available around Hawaii by donream

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Main dining food portions were a joke, and service was extremely slow. Ate in the buffet most of the time. Food there was good, and the service very friendly. Charging for "premium" meals" in the main dining room was also a joke! NCL charges a fee or gratuity for almost everything. Probably will not take another NCL cruise. Teen club was dominated by older teenage boys with a lot of cussing, and nothing was done about it. Our two younger teenagers decided they didn't want to go to the teen club because of this. This ship had the most cramped staterooms of any ship we've been on (8 cruises total). We had a "partial ocean view" room. A lifeboat outside the window totally obstructed any view of the ocean! This stateroom was no better than an inside cabin with no window. The shore excursions were fine.

Not friendly to vegetarians by sheenaahdoot

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

This cruise was average.

My husband and I are vegetarian and we were disappointed with the limited choice of vegetarian food on the ship.

We booked all of our excursion with the cruise and they just provided mainly sandwiches on an 8 sometimes 10 hours of excursion.

We had a buffet meal on one of the excursions and the salad was just lettuce and one choice of pasta for the main lunch.

I heard so many things about Hawaii's fish and basically we did not have a good fish on the ship.

Very good experience in Hawaii onboard in Pride of America by claitoncaldeira

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

I had a very good experience in Hawaii, onboard in Pride of America vessel.

Amazing dinners, breakfast, lunch. Very good entertainment. Very easy access to all the ports visited.

My only disappointments were that was not easy to find available chairs in the pool deck depending on the time and that the vessel shake a lot during the cruise. People who is sensitive to seasickness may have a hard time.

Stayed in family suite. Having breakfast in private restaurant for suite guests is very nice. All crew members were very friendly and accommodating. Speciality restaurants were very good. Entertainment was decent. Ship was filled to capacity but it never felt crowded.

Great for Hawaii by ma2ksdave

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Best way to see a lot of Hawaii in 7 days.  Great size ship for the itinerary.  Refurbishment of ship very well done and looks like a new ship.  Service was a bit spotty in some of the restaurants but other than that a great vacation.   Plenty of time in port to explore.

Hawaii cruise by nokach3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

I loved our private balcony. I did not like food choices in our restaurants so we went more to eat at the buffet. My friend who was with us is vegeatarian and not much choices for her,so improvement is needed there.

I would have liked my room to be cleaner. the shelves were dusty and not vaccumed under the bed either. That's where they want you to put your luggage for storage so can't help but see dust bunnies and lint there.

The staff was helpful and pleasant. The buffet was excellent. Entertainment was good as well.

Excursion times changing regularly by tabby01415

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Our favorite part of the cruise were the excursions.  They showed us a big part of each island.  The ship simply transported us safely between ports.

Excursion times seemed to change daily.  It is hard to plan activities such as specialty dining and port shopping when the excursion times change often.

Specialty dining was very good on the ship.  We purchased the 5-day pakage before sailing.  We wanted to try all of the specialty dining options but on the second day we found out that the Japanese Tepanyaki grill was booked for the entire cruise! Passengers should not be able to hoard one dining room.

Absolutely the best cruise experience! by JanetVallery

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crystal Serenity / Destination: Hawaii

SIx star menus, Six star facilities, Six star enrichment programs and guest speakers, Six star entertainment. Five star service. Trade offs - state rooms are small and main dining room has 2 assigned seatings.  There is a small section for dining by reservation which we were able to enjoy after initially being waitlisted.  The cruise was beyond our expectations and we appreciated the friendly and attentive staff and the many onboard programs and top notch entertainment.  The golf clinics were fantastic!

prison ship by prisonship

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

food was poor, even when you pay (full price) for specialty restaurants. Everything cost extra i.e. you want to txt others onboard while traveling, you buy an app to communicate, plus you will need the wifi package .. so that is also extra. I never opted in to text or wifi, I just waited until we got to shore. If you don't mind paying the corking fee (I suggest you pay it) bring a bottle of wine each day onboard you will get better wine, even with the fee it is cheaper than what you get on the ship. Remember that all tips are included in any receipt so no need to tip extra (unless you give cash for exceptional service)... don't forget they charge a daily fee that also is supposed to be part of the workers tip

Pride of America by bsachdev07

Food quality is poor.

Favorite part was audience participation in a variety of games, competitions, and dancing.

Not enough shuttles were provided once getting off the boat at each disembarkation.

We had a great time and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Everyone! At breakfast the woman bussing our table gave us great advice on beaches on Kilua'i.  Our waiter at East-West restaurant put out a spread for our group. Bartender at Pink bar makes a fabulous Lavendrr Bliss.

Pride of America Hawaii Cruise by Cruiser706

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Learning about the ship and its people; the little-known, yet very important history of Hawaii and its inhabitants ("Water, Wind and Waves"; the influence of volcanoes and the immense, nearly incomprehensible passage of time during their evolution; the level of dependence today on importation . . .).  The Pearl Harbor excursion is noteworthy and profound.  It should not be missed nor short-changed.  Overall, it would be less hectic and more pleasurable to have fewer destinations per excursion, in order to more deeply and thoroughly enjoy and learn about each stop.  In short, "less is more" in most vacation-related cases, contrary to the pace of daily life.

Yes I would recommend this cruise but cabins and food quality could do with some updating. Cruise director and entertainment staff were excellent as well as dining room staff.

Enjoyable Vacation by KonaJW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Hawaii

This is a very clean ship, all the waiters and room stewards were very friendly.  We enjoyed the trivia quizzes and the entertainment, the music in the main Follies was too loud during the production shows, but the shows were good.  We live in Hawaii so some of the ports were where we go on a regular basis.  It was nice to be in Honolulu for 2 days, there are a lot of things to see, Pearl Harbor, Waikiki Beach.

we had a balcony cabin, the rooms are larger than other cruise lines and comfortable.  Kona is one of the better stops, and we didn't go in because the water was too rough to tender in to town.

Honolulu to Vancouver by frankgs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Hawaii

We had a great time using the shore excursions at each stop around the islands.  We did miss Kona due to rough seas. An extra day in Honolulu to start is a great way to start, then the next 5 days were very busy on and off of the ship.  Meals in the main dining room the first 2 days was not a good start but all meals after that were wonderful.  The waiters and all crew were very attentive making dining a pleasure.

The next 5 days at sea to Vancouver went really fast and everything was nice.  The one thing we had not considered was the constant wind from the ship moving at its regular speed.  This made enjoying the deck and pools less than enjoyable.

The shows every night were wonderful, everyone was fantastic and entertaining.

I wished there had been more entertaining things to do during the day,  scheduled dancing classes, cooking or computer classes.

The Internet lounge, library was not very good!  They needed nice reading, Internet cafe for quiet relaxation.

Disembarkation in Vancouver was excellent.  Thanks for a delightful trip on Carnival.
