Norwegian Star Adriatic Cruise by jenpr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

I was very disappointed in the iConcierge service/app (communicating with other passengers). It cost $9.99 and worked so sporadically it wasn't worth it! And there was no way to explore Dubrovnik without PAYING to get somewhere. If you're going to port away from a town center you should INCLUDE a shuttle to the town. Instead Norwegian charged $15 per person or you could pay for your own cab. But it was way too far away to walk to anything. Very disappointing! The "Ultimate" beverage package did not include coffee shops or water. Are you kidding me?

Excellent Adriatic Cruise by Funwashad

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Great cruise overall. All port calls were very busy and congested with heavy traffic and a lot of tourists. The crowds were manageable but it created lost time in sightseeing.

Expect Beautiful Scenery & Bad Food by tisHeather

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

It’s like a Holiday Inn & TGIFriday’s meets cruise ship. If you go with those expectations, you will not be disappointed. The ship is older and cabin bathrooms need an update. Most notably the food/menu needs a complete makeover! Recommend this cruise in Sept-October.

Disappointing NCL Epic built in France by palsab

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

From the time you arrive (BCL) expect your whole trip to be waiting "in line" for everything. Bcl you wait in line as some passenagers did not print their tags so you have to wait for them - the loading staff have no idea as we all wait in a long line of 32'C in the sun. once you get on board the elevators expect the 7 days of waiting for them. The suite spa level 14 deck paid the higher price to expect something better.. what a disapointment. the toilet and shower are in your room. They saved all the space in the floor layout and to give you an oversized balcony. USELESS. Dinning package do not expect much for the up charge. No Lobster tails. staff and service fair and did not experience any outstanding service. Washi very limited menu for what you expect. Note they do Chef special orders but nobody tells you this. Ports of call - very disappointed how whort a stay they allow you. Naples - get off the ship and easy walk to town. this works Rome - the 1.5 hour drive port to city less the time you need to return to the ship cuts into the time you have in Rome. We only had about 5 hours to see the sights. VERY UPSET about this part. Florence - the same as Rome just did not have the time we needed to see the city. Cannes - the boat tender system very messed up. We did the TV sign up and only showed 730am and 12noon options we booked group17 only to hear over the PA that they started called it at 930am the lines on the return way too long with only 4 boats running on 2 gangways. Majorca way too little time and we should have had a later departure. Arrival in BCL in RAIN so this time as we left the terminal we got socked getting on the airport bus. again the logicist staff all need to be fired, not sure if they are 3rd party vendor to NCL but this was just uncalled. I want my $50 transfer fee back.

Baltic Cruise by rraczka

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regal Princess / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Overall nice cruise. Food average. Drink packages are silly and awkward for passengers and staff. Recommend charge more for cruise (for drinkers). Need to make shore transport from dock to Stockholm easier. (Bus transport to city) when ship docked far away

Not a very good cruise by bfallan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Sinfonia / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

I wouldn't recommend a cruise on the Sinfonia. We did the 7-day eastern Mediterranean cruise out of Venice. This ship is on the small side and the on board activities are limited, but we booked it because we were excited about the itinerary. Unfortunately the ship had mechanical issues so we missed the stop in Mykonos entirely (and it was only going to be a few hours anyway, the way the itinerary was advertised is misleading). Not only was this disappointing, but MSC was very reluctant to provide updates about what was happening, so we were stressed not knowing how much additional disruption to expect. But the biggest complaint would be the food. We booked the Aurea package, and despite reading some negative reviews about the food before we left, assumed that having the my choice dining in the Il Covo restaurant would get us access to a higher quality of dining. That was not the case. We got sick off the food our fist night on the ship, and a number of the dishes we were served throughout the cruise were simply inedible. After our dinners in Il Covo we would go to the buffet looking for other options, and what really floored us was that a number of the dishes served in Il Covo each evening were also served on the buffet. So all the Aurea dining package bought us was the same bad food as the buffet but plated and brought to us by a waiter. I wish I had taken the negative reviews of the food more seriously before I booked the cruise, it was really disappointing. I will give credit to the staff, who for the most part we found helpful and friendly. When the boat had mechanical problems, they were stuck in the same situation as us not knowing what was happening, and they tried their best to keep things positive. Overall, based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend a cruise on the Sinfonia.

Not really a family boat by dougd43698793

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Magica / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The ship was a little dated but very clean and well kept. the artwork on the walls interesting. We did have to explain to our 9 year old why there was naked girls on the walls. Hard to get food after hours and the breakfast opens late.for some non-cruise excursions. The ports of call were really good, the market in Finland had some of the best seafood we found. Be aware the first day in Russia takes a long time to clear customs. A lot longer than you’d expect. Also costa requires that a person 21 years or older be the main “renter” on a cabin. This is particularly awkward when you have to split up a family in order to get everyone a bed. You end up being at different dinner times and restaurants.

British open failure by Edvard

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Celebrity will not allow you to see the British open to it’s completion. Busses to Open are $500 or $350 more than taking the first class train. Busses were filthy and air conditioning did not work making it 90f or hotter for 90 minute ride. Busses depart 615 pm, an hour before the leaders finished. Cruise staff says that it was still a tour and offered nothing but “too bad” excuses. Cruise staff Perry promised we could stay to see the end of play on Sunday, but bus operator required to leave an hour before end of play.

British Isles by frankaldrich804

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Elizabeth / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Of the twelve cruises we have taken this one ranks at the bottom. Not everything was terrible, but the exceptions were few. The good: Probably the easiest boarding we have had. There was no confusion, no running around looking for something. The boarding process probably lasted fifteen minutes. The ships overall appearance and décor was exceptional. The look of wood with all the trimmings made you feel comfortable and very warm. For a ship just refurbished two years ago there is a lot of wear and tear. The bad: The staff appears more disinterested than any other ship we have sailed. On most of the ships we have cruised there seems to be an attitude of making you feel like a guest, far less on this ship. The lido staff is downright unfriendly. On many occasions a staff member removed either a plate of glass from the table, we would say thank you, just to be ignored. Problem solving seems to be absent. Our transfer from the ship to the airport was arranged by the excursions department. Heathrow airport is one of the largest in the world. I stopped by the desk to verify the correct terminal. I was told I would have to go the library upstairs log onto a computer, at my cost, to verify the correct terminal. Only after leaving I decided this was not right and returned to the counter just in time to find another associate giving her instructions on how to find this information. Two questions, one why was someone new not given instructions on how to handle questions, and second why not try to get the guest to return. The ugly: Our booking agent had us select the 8:30 dining saying “they have open seating like other ships, just request other dining times”. When we asked the Maître D about open seating we were informed not on any Cunard. Not solving the problem then he haughtily told us to return on the following day and he “would see what he could do”. Makes you really feel like a guest. Tendering. On two occasions we tendered into port. First being Edinburgh. Along with the ships tenders we also had a large ship used for this purpose aiding in the process. Even with the larger ship there was still a delay over an hour and a half. The second was in Guernsey. This was a horrible experience, with over a three and a half delay. Some people waited over four hours. Very poor planning.

Was a good cruise and liked all the ports we went too. Weather was great so that was a plus. by krssommer9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Cruise was good. We had problems in Amsterdam with hotel. We went to wrong one. We weren't told we had to take train to hotel. Also bus from ship to airport wasn't set up ahead of time. Everything else was fine. We had oceanview window which my husband liked. Had more room and overlooked helipad. It was a nice variety of cities we visited.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

you really cannot bring that many clothes/suitecases due to weight limits etc by the airlines so laundry service is really important and necessary and I did'nt appreciate being so over-charged for this especially when their is no way to do it yourself. also internet should be free. the food was excellant and much appreciated. every meal really impressive. The crew gave top noptch serve and was really friendly.
