We were able to take the tour of the city of Rome on the last day and we saw the Pope! Totally not expected. But overall we had a wonderful time. Can't wait to visit Europe again !

Wonderful cruise marred only by the fact that they have increased capacity a bit too much as everywhere was packed which made finding a seat and getting served at the bars a nightmare. Food and service fabulous though. by darbs1963

Very crowded Indy trip by wagtail1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

On board experience was spoilt by smoking by pool . So many electric wheelchairs became a hazard especially when parked in the corridors and dining rooms . The ports of call were lovely but needed a sea day to break them up. The cruise felt very busy and i will choose a smaller ship in future.

Great First Experience! by kljquinn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This was my first cruise experience, a 60th birthday present from my brother who was my traveling companion, and I am now a big fan! So much so, I took advantage of NCL's "CruiseNext" program and while onboard, I made a deposit on a cruise for next year with my daughter to celebrate her graduation from Miami University! I could not believe how smooth The Epic was! Most of the time onboard I completely forgot I was on a ship! The staff everywhere on board was incredible, both in efficiency as well as helpfulness. Everyone was SO friendly and cheerful, ready to do anything for you! I was impressed with the overall cleanliness of the ship. With the exception of an instance of some plates/dishes left behind by passengers in seating areas, I NEVER saw a mess anywhere, even in the public restrooms. Our cabin was very nice. It was a balcony mini suite, and it was VERY clean. I was actualy amazed at how much storage space there was for clothes, etc. Ken, our cabin steward was exceptionally talented at towel folding and it was so much fun to see what he would do next! The food was excellent and we enjoyed both the free-style dining as well as three specialty restaurants. I was amazed at how well the Garden Cafe kitchen staff kept up with the food in the buffet lines, especially when they were crowded right before morning disembarkment times! And then there is the entertainment. WOW!! The Cirque Dreams dinner/show was out of this world! The meal was exquisite and the show was en par with any Cirque show I have seen. My children were both competitive dancers, so believe me when I say the dancers of "Burn The Floor" were amazingly fine!! The ballroom choreo was fantastically innovative and captivating. Thoroughly enjoyed that! We also saw the magician, Christian, who was very talented and entertaining. The fun shows in the Atrium were entertaining and drew nice crowds. Everything relating to the passengers was very well thought out and designed to either make the cruise safer or easier. "Washy washy! Happy happy!!" Hahaha Those who have been on board will smile at that! Finally, the adult only area with the big screen was a very nice respite for those of us not traveling with children. It was great fun watching World Cup soccer or just relaxing in the sun without having to dodge kids running around. It's just another example of the ship and cruising experience being well thought out for the benefit of all passengers. Finally, the ease of having a cashier on board and therefore having the ability to exchange U.S. Dollars for Euros immediately for nothing more than the exhange rate difference, no fees or percentages charged, was wonderful!! Really, the only negative to my first cruise experience was with the Iconcierge app. While it allowed us to make reservations for entertainment and specialty dining as well monitor our account activity and other features, it did not show the time nor date of our reservations, just the date on which we made the entry through the app. We did get two reservations confused because we could not remember which night we were doing which one. Granted, we should have written it down somewhere as we made the reservations, but in following with the overall theme of efficiency and helpfulness of the entire cruise, it fell a little short. That being said, we easily compensated for our error and went to a free style restaurant that night and made a subsequent reservation for the one we missed... no problem. After all of this gushing, I am sure it is easy to tell how thrilled I was with this cruise experience. I am not sugar coating any of this! This was indeed the whole of my experience with Norwegian Cruise Lines and The Epic.

Brilliant Ship by Seamans

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Symphony of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Beautiful ship. We chose the trip to experience this new Royal Caribbean ship. Obviously a few teething problems with it being new. Despite having already visited most ports in the past it was a lovely vacation.

Was not enchanted by thegymgyrl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Symphony of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

On this port heavy cruise we found ourselves exhausted after day 2. Downhill from there. We recommend to not get off the boat on every port if you want to make this sustainable. Service was excellent, esp MDR. Solarium Bistro was better than the windjammer and nice alternative to the crowded windjammer.

Busy Mediterranean Cruise by sphrguy48

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

On this cruise, we had 6 in our party; daughter and husband, and two grandchildren. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the ports of call. We came early to Barcelona and stayed an additional evening in Barcelona after disembarkation. Barcelona is a beautiful place and we were glad that we spend additional time there. These ports of call will keep you very busy and most of your day will be off the ship. So if you have high energy level for sightseeing -- you will like this cruise.

Toilet bowl by Waterlady

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Upstairs deck, patio, bar and restaurant is absolutely disgusting. The sign clearing states on the drink refill station not to use personal refill bottle, but of course people do anyways. We moved to buying sprites from the bar for my daughter and then a guest pops in with two personal cups. The bartender unscrews his lid and dunks his coke nozzle into his cup that is still a quarter of the way filled. I turned and looked at the customer and he has a gross cold sore. Bartender never charged him either! Of course I called and complained to the assistant manager and she said they are not supposed to do that. Duh! obviously, management is clearly not communicating to thier staff well enough. They need to clearly staff that ur job is at risk if you jeopardize gu sta health. Deck was extremely dirty with drink cups every where. Also had at numerous time no where to sit because every table in the shade was covered with drink cups and plates. The entertainement was amazing. We loved the major shows and Andre the entertainment director’s game shows. We had a beverage and dining package. We never ate a good meal in the special restaurants. The vela medallions served was a huge pounded piece of leather. Absolutely not the description and completely uneatable. The complimentary Taste and Manhattan dining room were ok. We’ve cruised Disney and Royal carribean. We won’t ever cruise NCL again
