The cruise was lovely.  The ship and the crew very caring. Only complaint I found

the dinner menu  sometime boring on the other hand the food in specialty restaurants was very good.

Overall it was a good experience.

Great cruise by happytravels

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Excellent ports of call with lots of time in ports. Ship was very clean, excellent service and good entertainment in Showroom. Cabin 2707 was good size, only negative it was on the main deck and had stair case blocking view and any natural light. Would choose same deck but room on side. Food was good but would have liked more choices in main dining room. Would take a cruise on the Rottedam again.

12 Night North Atlantic Cruise by spiderlady

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The only reason this cruise received 4 stars and not 5 was the Market Place buffet.

Not only was the food the same every day, especially breakfast, but due to the weather, sitting was frequently at a premium. Dinners in the Aqua Restaurant were very good, just not excellant.

On the good side, our cabin was spotless and our cabin steward was always on top of things.  There were plenty of activities on sea days, the stores offered a variety of goods at a variety of prices.

The iterary was awesome and the tours were outstanding.

So glad we went.

14 day Iberian 2013 by rickid

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Third cruise on HA but not as great as the others.  It started & ended at the same port so 80% of passengers were Dutch, older, rude.  The Atlantic was rough.  The Rotterdam itself is older.  AC didn't work for 2 days and the toilet was a problem 4 times.  If you persist they do fix the problems but make you feel like it was your fault.  Service by the steward & in room dining staff was impeccable and always on time.  Furnishings are old, worn, scratched & cloth chair covers in the main dining room are torn.  Food is ok at buffet not spectacular and catered to European tastes (weird salads such as mint pasta???).  Extra cost for Italian restaurant not worth it, food is good but the same thing was offered on the buffet the next day!!!   The Slice (pizza) grill was bad (like cardboard and cold).  However their Med BBQ and desert extravaganza were great.

Excursions on this trip were 30/70 (30% worth it).  The HA line seems to attract a really old crowd. We are 60 but everyone else seemed 75-80. Lots of wheelchairs/walkers/canes that help up excursions everywhere.  Buses had faulty or no AC and windows wouldn't open.

Other cruises on the Med & Baltic were much better (Noordam) however I did love the availability of the laundry.  There were also 2 days of just cruise in the beginning & end of the itinerary which could have been better if another port was added - just too much sea time in the choppy Atlantic

BRITISH ISLES CRUISE by AVIDTRAVELLERS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

ITINERARY WAS OUR MAIN REASON FOR CHOOSING THIS CRUISE & IT WS VERY GOOD - YOU GET A GOOD FLAVOUR OF ENGLAND, IRELAND & SCOTLAND. TOURS BOOKED THROUGH CARNIVAL WERE GOOD.

NORWAY WAS BEAUTIFUL & THE COAST OF FRANCE (NORMANDY) VERY ENJOYABLE.

THE CARNIVAL LEGEND IS OVERDUE FOR AN UPDATE & HOPEFULLY WHEN IT IS COMPLETE THE SHIP WILL NOT BE QUITE AS GARISHLY DECORATED AS IT IS PRESENTLY. STAFF WERE WONDERFUL - ATTENTIVE & PLEASANT. THE FOOD WAS HO HUM - NOT THE STANDARD WE HAVE ENJOYED ON PREVIOUS CARNIVAL CRUISES. MANY WE SPOKE TO FELT THE SAME & LACK OF VARIETY WAS THE MAIN COMPLAINT.

Wonderful Experience and Great Eating by Chinaprc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Wind Surf / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The trip on the Windsurf from Edinburgh to Dublin was truly a memorable experience. The ship's crew was fantastic--the provided 24/7 service and tried their best to mak everyday a wonderful experience...and they generally succeeded. The food was fantastic and if you dint gain 5 pounds...you must have been a very picky eater!! Choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner offered options to make everyone happy....plus the desserts were outrageous. My only concern is that the shore excursions were a bit over priced and did not always offer great value for the fees charged. The trip to Belfast was over $250 per person....3 hrs to get there and only 2 hrs in Belfast including lunch...and another 2 1/2 hrs to get back to the ship. No walking time or shopping time at all. Otherwise, a great experience and highly recommend it.

British Isles by xxxxxx

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Enjoyed cruise. Cruise line could have described tours better especially Versailles. The tour was not medium, it was strenuous. It was very expensive and I think they should have had a better way to transport people through the gardens. Several people barely made the hike. I would recommend this cruise by Princess to anyone.

Great itinerary, lovely experience by Adrianne

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

This cruise had such a great itinerary. My husband I Iike "destination" cruises, not just cruising for the sake of it. The ports on this cruise were all interesting - especially the first (Guernsey) and the last (LeHavre-Normandy), whose WWII history was so interesting and moving. The Caribbean Princess was a really nice ship, excellent service, food and entertainment. The only shortcoming to me were the lack of informative port talks. Instead of subject matter experts, they had a person who just seemed to be an experienced cruiser showing her own photos and commenting.

Great trip by Familyvacation

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The trip was great - crew on ship were wonderful. Food was excellent. Weather didn't allow use of outdoor places on the ship which made the indoor areas very crowded which got annoying at times. It was very difficult finding a table at the Horizon buffet. The ports of call were great, though, the tours seemed rushed and didn't allow for much free/shopping time. Given how close the ports are to each other, it seems like the in port time could have been a few hours longer in several ports. Also, it would have been nice to have a sea day earlier in the itinerary. But, all in all, a wonderful trip.

Great Cruise by jonmin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Infinity / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The lecture on Whales was terrific; we could have done with more scientific lectures and documentaries on board The Ocean view buffet was just splendid, exceptionally varied, good quality, tasty. The trellis restaurant can be stuffy and tedious Our beverage package was the best we have ever had, keep it up The on-board internet expensively sux, but that may have to do with signal blockage by the fjords. We were impressed by Celebrity Corp's generosity in providing free internet near the Bergen dock for staff separated from their families for long periods. Comfortable clean cabin, huge window onto the balcony, tons of fresh air all night. Excellent views 24/7. Gym excellent and open early Fjords are interesting and impressive, almost as much as Mediterranean history and archeology

Dream Vacation by Princess55

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

I would have to say; when it comes to having my friends and family with me I would be happy doing anything, but thanks to Carnival Legend and its entire staff, my vacation went from wonderful to absolutely perfect! The ship itself was an absolute dream, filled with fun faces, wonderful staff and lots of entertainment. There was never a dull moment while on the ship. Everywhere you went there was something going on, someone to see or something to do. My husband and I ended up going to the same place every night after dinner, but that’s only because we loved it there so much. Billy’s bar (piano bar). It was a great time and Bruce made every second we were there amazing. He filled the room with fun and joy. The next best thing was my eating experience on the ship. The food was amazing. I was always able to find something that I thought I would enjoy, and I always did. The presentation in itself was beautiful and the flavor was unbeatable. The drinks were also made to perfection. They were worth the amount you paid for them and tasted great. One last thing I need to rave about is the staff on the ship. They all were so friendly and helpful at all times. They made our stay so much more enjoyable because of everything that they did for us. I have to say that this trip was the best trip I have ever been on and I have been on many, many vacations. Thank you Carnival Legend for everything you did!

Review of Celebrity Infinity Norway Cruise by longjim

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Infinity / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

I chose 4 stars because there were things that caused a problem that could have been rectified but they weren't. We were traveling with friends and were not able to eat together. We tried several times to change the eating assignment but it was said to be impossible. We were "aqua" level and our friends weren't. We were very willing to give up eating in the Blu dining room to be with our friends but this request was refused. Our friends changed their dining from late to early and we asked to be included with them. Our friends got the 6:00 seating but we did not. My husband has Parkinsons and does require help. Having people with us that understand his problems is very important to both of us. I had hoped that the Celebrity staff would assist us but they did not. We were just told there was nothing they could do. I will say that the Blu dining room was very nice and we did enjoy the staff and the food but we felt we were forced into this option rather than eating with our friends. We have traveled on other lines where we needed to change dining reservations and there was never a problem, this was a first for us. We did try eating together at the buffet but felt the quality of food was not up to the usual standard.

British Isleas Cruise on Caribbean Princess by TheSpringGroup

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Recently, my wife and I took a 12-day British Isles cruise on the Princess Line, Caribbean Princess. The itinerary of the cruise was excellent, with visits to Paris, France as well as ports in Scotland and Ireland. There was lots to see and enjoy. The weather was OK, mostly in the 50's to 60's during the day. The ship itself was OK, too. The food was above average, the shows were average but the service was excellent. Overall, out of a maximum of 10 points, I would rate this cruise an eight!

A little bumpy, but good overall by KirkG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Overall, this cruise was good and we had a good time. The negative things are partly on account of the bumpy roads (which the captain referred to as "potholes in the road) and our kids not having a great time. The North Atlantic was quite rough during the few days we were there. I asked a bartender if this was normal and he mentioned that 2 weeks prior they had a very smooth cruise. Can't do anything about nature, but I think we may not do the open sea again. Our stateroom (6035) was large for an inside cabin, probably about 230 sq.ft.. However, everything we used was in the back of the ship so we had a bit of a hike. The dining was decent but not as good as on Costa Cruises. This may be a result of not having a formal dining time and table. However, having the freedom to come whenever was nice but if you could get a table by yourselves (on a diff cruiseline) with the same waiter every night, I think that would be preferable. The food itself was good but nothing too special. The Prime Rib and Ribeye steaks were excellent, though. We visited the Tepanyaki one night. The chef was as good at flipping his utensils but did a good show in general. The food was excellent. However, the cost was high at $25 for adults and $12.50 for kids. I think NCL should re-think their policy about charging so much for these specialty restaurants. We also visited the Italian restaurant one night. The food was very good and the selection was good as well. The cost was $15 and was reasonable. The entertainment was not as good as other cruises we've been on recently. Both Costa and Royal Caribbean were better in this department. I can't say it was bad, but just not "eye popping" as the other cruises. The kids club had a lot of activities for our kids (4 and 5). However, I think they focused too much on crafts which was not good for our 4 yo son who got into too much trouble and even got a 24 hour timeout from kids club. My wife and I were hoping for more alone time which we did not get. The kids pool was awesome. They had a pirate themed pool with 2 slides and a kids hot tub. However due to the bad weather our kids only got to partake a couple times. Overall, a good cruise, with just some bad circumstances. I think we'll try NCL again soon (especially since we bought a voucher on board).

NCL not very impressive by fee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We have cruised in a few other cruise lines, and NCL was not very impressive! The shows were very good and the shore excursion desk was very helpful but very little amenities, if any. The food was not very good and wait staff very poor, no refills at the tables, no one offered help with finding tables, no trays.... We would not cruise NCL again but, if you like to feel at home and do it yourself you would then enjoy this no frills holiday!

Excellent experience, highly recommend this cruise by RamonJosie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

This is our 2nd Norwegian cruise. This experience is totally different from the one we had in Hawaii in 2005. Everything is excellent especially the hosekeeping and the food service staff . The cabin is surprisingly large from all the cruises we had. The experience is so good we're already planning for the Norwegian Epic this October.
