Butlins on a boat! by Cruiser14740133

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azura / Destination: United Kingdom

Quick efficient check in and the cabin was excellent. The food was also of a high standard but that is all I can say about this cruise. We have never cruised before and after this experience, we never will again. I do not want to be serenaded by yellow or blue coats singing "Sailing" as we leave port. It was all so Butlins. I was almost expecting staff to say Hi di Hi to us. Truly awful. The buffet was like a scrum down with greedy people piling up their plates with food they couldn't possibly eat.

we decided to have our breakfast served to us, which was far more civilised that walking round with a tray of food trying to find somewhere to sit.

water in the cabins should be free and not charged. For what we paid, it should be free and is very mean of P&O.

like many people, we asked for a refund immediately as we thought that we will decided who and when to tip and not be dictated to. We weren't even told that my credit card had been debited. Cheek!

the entertainment was sub standard and more akin to a holiday camp. The daytime activities were a joke and thoroughly boring.

Our first and our last ever cruise! Never again!

Good Cruise by Cruiser72548965

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Azura / Destination: United Kingdom

Good itinerary, allocated flexible dining which suited us.

Weather not too bad though very little sun until Bilbao.

Nice ship, though lacks a little character perhaps because of its size.

All facilities good though seemed to be somewhat understaffed in open deck areas. All round though a very good cruise.

Somewhat disappointed with cabin allocations as we booked two cabins & were allocated C100 & C101, which we assumed to be adjacent, in fact one is port & the other on the starboard side of the ship - miles away! Not useful when looking after elderly relatives.

French river cruising by Cruiser9054700

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Braemar / Destination: United Kingdom

great cruise, lovely staff who are all very helpful and friendly. good food and entertainment. Itinerary good with good tours. The best location was Bordeaux as the ship was right in the centre of the city. My cabin was noisy, but I had no alternative because it was the last available single. Very high cost for a single traveller. I would recommend this cruise.

Technology sucksVe by mchernoff

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Marina / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

You concentrate on food and do an excellent job but your technology leaves much to be desired.  Free internet sounds great in principle but if every attempt to go on line results in a time out then free internet is the same as no internet.  I had to wake up at 3:00AM in order to conduct modest amounts of business.

The TV system is at least 20 year old technology.  It is hard to believe that you do not have movies on demand.  One should not have to wait an hour or more for the start of a movie.  Moreover the choice of movies was extremely limited especially for someone taking back to back cruises.  Additionally the current status of the onboard account should be displayed on one of the channels.

The choice of satellite entertainment channels was also pathetic.  There should be double the channel options and you need to get the primary feed from ESPN instead some secondary one.  The should also be some provision for televising major USA sporting events such as the season opening college football game.

As bad as the TV viewing choices were, most of the time it didn't matter.  There was a "no signal" message on the screen at least half the time no doubt because the digital signal receiver is out of date.

The cruise is priced as premium so one expects the technoloty to also be premium.  Please address these issues ASAP so I can book additional cruises.

Norway in a nutshell by BobH43285231

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Scandinavia

Bergen, Flam and Geiranger are not to be missed! Beautiful fjords, hundreds of waterfalls, and pristine farming communities abound. This was our second cruise to this area and we were not disappointed.  Alesund and Stavanger were a couple of little towns that we would not have missed.

Celebrity dining has definitely gone down hill over the years. We were not impressed with the main dining menu or the Ocean View Café upstairs.

Wonderful Azamara by Tmichael28

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Quest / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Wonderful Cruise line. If you like a smaller ship, consider Azamara. The crew is terrific, the food is very good, and the ship is a nice size.  The only negative is the size of the shower in a regular state room. TINY!

Back to the Baltic by Cruiser65031585

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Marina / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Having cruised to the Baltic before we thought that a trip of only 8 days would be sufficient. This however turned out to be a mistake. Joining the ship in Copenhagen and disembarking in Stockholm meant that we missed out on 2 very attractive destinations. Oceania's tour prices are exorbitant which reduced the trips we made particularly in St Petersburg having already been to most of the highlight venues and being unwilling to pay such large sums for second visits. My overall rating of 4 stars really is a reflection of the Marina itself. All of the crew were so pleasant and helpful and our Concierge level stateroom was excellent. Oceania's food is renowned and lived up to it's reputation. My advice to anyone booking a Baltic cruise would by all means use this cruise line but pick an itinerary that covered a longer period with more ports of call.

Amazing Norway by roseanne

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa neoRomantica / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Sailing though the Fjords was a breathtaking experience.  We cruise with Costa (this is our 3rd time) because they always have different destinations than the other cruise lines as well as the continental flare and delicious pasta! They did not disappoint with this cruise.

That being said there are a few things that bother me.  Smoking is allowed on the ship, and being an ashmatic, this can be bothersome at times.  Also there is a bit of disorganization on the boat with all activities.  If you ignore these issues, you will have an amzing time on Costa.

REGENT BALTIC by mnabors1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Cabins were great - roomy, loved having separate shower, tub, and walk-in closet.  Dining service was spotty - particularly in the compass rose main dining room.  Not up to standards on Oceania cruise.  Food overall was good, but not often great. Loved the art lectures - Mary was fabulous.  Room service was excellent.  Our cabin service was also really good.

Great itinerary, nice ship by apetillo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This cruise itinerary was really nice; 9 port cities in 8 countries.  Ship was excellent (Celebrity Silhouette) - nice accommodations, excellent staff always looking to please, and pretty good (though not fabulous) food.  I would definitely sail on this ship again, and would recommend the "Scandinavia - Russia" itinerary.

Serenade Not Up To RC Standards by Cruiser39188933

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Having sailed Royal Caribbean in the past, I feel the Serenade of the Seas is found to be lacking in a number of ways. Most of the issues are with the service. Although almost all of the crew I encountered were pleasant, the actual service was below RC standards. I saw my cabin attendant twice on an 8 day cruise. Delivery of clean glasses and bath products were sketchy. In the dining room, it appeared the waiters were overwhelmed and had too many tables to serve. The wine steward was nowhere to be seen most of the time. It didn't help that this appeared to be a "training" cruise for a lot of the crew. Also, the tables were so crowded together one could barely maneuver getting to your table.

I would say two of the nights had entertainment that would be considered quite good.

Norway Cruise by Cruiser88369045

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The Ports of Call were my favorite part of the cruise.  The ship was very clean.  The wait staff in the main dining were wonderful.  I did not like all the "special events" -spa info, good feet, art auction--felt like it was used car salespeople trying to rip me off!

Great trip on a great cruise ship by carolmaurits

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Regal Princess / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The Regal Princess is one of the best Princess cruise liners I've been on.  The staff were excellent, the entire ship spotless, the service above average.  Though there are over 3,500 passengers on board, the public area is better than some other Princess ships and again, the service excellent.

The itinerary was very good.  I especially enjoyed Tallinn, Estonia (what a delight to spend time in the Old town) and St. Petersburg, so rich in history.  We were there 2 days and took the ship's tour, which was excellent.  Copenhagen was also a wonderful place to visit.   All in all, the trip was all I had hoped for.

Our Scandinavian And Russian Cruise by philselig

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regal Princess / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

St. Petersburg was the most beautiful city, full of museums full of beautiful treasures not to be missed.  I loved The Hermitage, of course, and the Fabergé Museum.  All the buildings were gorgeous in the city.

Somewhat disappointed by Blarson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regal Princess / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This was our fourth cruise with Princess and in comparison with our earlier ones this one did not quite match up.

Our cabin was smaller and the balcony was very cramped. There was a constant " sewer" like smell in our bathroom and we generally felt more vibration in the room than we normally do.

A major complaint was the length of time we had to wait in line almost every evening to get into the Symphony dining room. We chose anytime dining ,as we always do when available, and we have never had to wait before. We did notice that many people had made reservations and they were given preference over those of us who were waiting. We were not aware that making a reservation for anytime dining was an option and quite frankly this does not make sense to us. Incidentally we are always willing to share a table, we were not waiting for a table for 2.

On previous cruises we have always been able to request slight changes on the menu which were honored with pleasure. We noticed that not only for us but other passengers this was not the case on this cruise. One example, one evening a leek pie was served alone on a plate. 3 people at our table asked if any vegetables were available to go with it. We were shocked when they were told there were no vegetables. Our experience in the past has been that every effort would be made to accommodate the guests.

Food overall was very good, Horizon Court had good choices every day. The Crown Grill speciality restaraunt was excellent.

The interior of the ship is very nice but the layout is " awkward ". What we found very disappointing was the lack of a promenade deck where we could walk all around the ship.

The port stops were good. We only did one Princess excursion which was the train into and back from Berlin with time on our own there. This worked out well as we always prefer to do our own exploring. St Petersburg was wonderful. We arranged our own guide for 2 full days which was less expensive than the Princess tours and was only a group of 6.

We were disappointed that we missed Helsinki but thankful that the crew take the precautions for our safety.

Our room steward, Alan, did an excellent job.

Overall we think the ship is too big and ultimately something is lost in the level of service. We take cruises to feel a little pampered and this time it didn't work. For instance on other cruises with movies under the stars a crew member brought us blankets, popcorn and hot chocolate. On this one we had to get our own blankets and there was no offer of popcorn or hot chocolate.

In the whole scheme of things this is not a major problem but a disappointment nevertheless.

In speaking with other passengers throughpout the cruise many had the same impressions we had. Many had done more cruises than us and gave comparisons with other cruise lines.

As a result of this cruise when the time comes for us to make plans for another cruise we will be  looking  at other lines.

Baltic Aug 18 sailing by cdavilac543

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Definitely recommend cruise. Overpriced in Internet and corkage fees. Ther should be no fees if wine is consumed in cabin as in other cruise lines.

Would be nice to have a meet the captain evening with champagne  as with other cruise lines.

No communication about disembarkation process except newsletter which didn't contain all necessary info for our cabins.

We decided on this cruise a year ago, and we enjoyed the experience.  This was our second time on the Marina, a great ship.  This  itinerary included countries important to our heritage, and we all felt right at home.
