taxi to LAX was $75.00 I was lucky enough that traffic was not terrible,,, but the taxi driver mentioned the fare is usually around $90 so a prearranged transfer might save you money

I live in Long Beach just across the bridge from San Pedro. Here's my take on the area: The Port of Los Angeles is in the city of San Pedro not Los Angeles which is about 30 miles away. At one time the port area was bustling with shops and restaurants, called 'Ports of Call Village'. It's still there but, badly in need of updating. And while the downtown area of San Pedro is close, there's really not much to do or see. You will want to take a tour or Uber or taxi to sight-see. Given the traffic constraints of renting a car and driving in the L.A. area, I highly recommend a tour or hiring a personal car to get around. The Battleship, next door, is available to tour. And, the Ports of Call Village is just beyond that. It's about a mile walk. Nice if you need the exercise.

We did not do an excursion in San Pedro as we were disembarking. We did, however, wake up early and see San Pedro before light. Our balcony was on the port side which afforded us a good view coming into port. Also, we were able to see the USS IOWA Battleship (BB-61)! Now that was neat! The USS Iowa is moored in San Pedro.

I arrived in San Pedro by Enterprise rental car. Next to the agency is a Crown Plaza hotel. It's expensive but very convenient. Personnel are nice. There is a shuttle to the cruise ship, but it costs $5.50 each. A few blocks away is a large collection of very interesting sea food places.
