I have my first cruise coming up in a few days and will be staying at moody gardens the night before ! First time staying there , but they offer a cruise package, which includes valet parking for your whole cruise, and shuttle to and from the port .

You can get free parking for the duration of your cruise by calling direct and booking a room at Gaido’s Seaside Inn. It’s an older hotel but very clean and close to the Seawall and beach. They also offer a great homemade hot breakfast buffet. Only minus is that it gets a lot more pricey during holidays and the summer. Another option is to stay near NASA - we have had good luck staying at the Quality Inn in Seabrook, about 30 minutes away from Galveston. You can visit NASA the day before or after your cruise - it’s historical and most older kids love it.

We are going to stay by the airport and catch the Carnival shuttle to the port. It was just too pricey in Galveston for decent hotels. The budget ones looked really bad. And none of the hotels in Galveston had transportation service to the port.

Also, if you fly into Houston, you can shuttle to the cruise terminal. There is a small fee, but it’s totally worth it! Thought I’d let you know that they offer that.
