Galveston, Texas Port Q&A

4.2
Any recs on a nice and enjoyable hotel for the night prior. It seems there isn’t much to choose from. Thinking to maybe stay in Houston? Thanks for any input.

We stayed at Harbor House Hotel in Galveston. Right at the pier. Walking distance to the Strand only 1 street over. several Restaurants next door. Very nice hotel.

I wouldn't recommend a Houston Hotel unless there's a particular attraction or Museum you want to go. also look at motels with a Webster or Texas City address since they are much closer to Galveston but are still priced right. one advantage of some Galveston hotel is free parking and our shuttle to the port so ask that question if that's of interest to you

Hotel Galvez on the Seawall and Tremont House walking distance to the cruise terminal are both historic and quite nice. Hilton on Seawall is a nice option as well.

We have stayed at a Fairfield Inn in League City off of 45. It's an easy drive into Port from there.

I usually stay on the Seawall. Homewood Suites and those IHG properties are nice.

We always stay in Clear Lake near NASA and Kemah Boardwalk. Lots of evening entertainment in the area and a quick 30 minute drive to the port.

I found this website that gives a lot of info about Galveston parking and hotel packages - https://www.cruisehive.com/extensive-guide-to-port-of-galveston-cruise-parking/30943. And then I decided none of it was right for us and booked a nice, cheaper place in Clear Lake City, near NASA, about 30 minutes north. But you might find something you like!

We stay at Best Western Texas City. it's right off the hwy and 15 minutes to port. The hotel is clean. priced well and offers breakfast. It has Gringos Mexican restaurant in the same lot.

Hilton is nice and they’ll shuttle you to the cruise. Casa Del Mar has some nice rooms also. The Tremont is on the historical strand near the port and also the Harbor House. There are many nice hotels along the seawall!

Galveston can be 2 and 3 times the cost of staying just 20 minutes north. And we have never had traffic sunday morning.
