Miami, Florida Port Q&A

4.2
Hello and thanks in advance for all responses. My question is… Has anyone ever done a night layover in Kissimmee and driven to the port? We’re cruising out on Sunday Dec 1 and we were thinking of staying in a townhouse resort in Kissimmee Saturday night , then pull out at about 7:30 am Sunday to head to Miami. Would this be pushing it? Also we usually set our boarding time at 1:30 or 2:00pm. Again thanks for any advice given.

The only thing that could foil that plan would be an issue with traffic. Accidents on the turnpike are not uncommon and could add some time to your journey. It’s about 3 hours with no issues to Miami from up there. Ideally a cruise out of Canaveral would be golden with your pre cruise lodging plans.

Hello, I coordinate a group from Atlanat. we booked a resort and visited Disney World pre-cruise and pulled out at 6A for Miami. it was about a 4 hour ride. We were able to stop for breakfast and refuel without feeling rushed. We parked, took the shuttle to the port, and arrived before we were supposed to chech-in at noon.

Very doable, especially pulling out by 8 am. Sunday morning is extremely minimal traffic. Map out alternate routes in case of an accident. I’m in south Florida and drive up to port canaveral the day of whenever it’s out of there. I always have an alternate route just in case.

there is the Bright line train you can take from Orlando to Miami. Then a short Uber ride approx $20 to cruise port.If you want to avoid the drive.

I live in Kissimmee and when we have cruised out of Miami, we simply left around 7am. Never experienced any challenges.

I always spend the night before my cruise near the port...Instead of staying in Kissimmee, you might want to try Fort Lauderdale..

i would stay in Kissimmee if going on cruise out of Port Canaveral. Its far from Miami if traffic happens. However, if you have a reason, like a time share, just give yourself an additional hour to the ship.

Kissimmee is close to Orlando. It's doable. Google says 3.5 to 4 hr drive. then give an extra hr to run into traffic or something happens....
