Baltimore is a city with the port being close by. There is a lot of hidden gems that could easily take up your day of travel. I especially like walking around the inner harbor section which has the national aquarium, Ripley's believe it or not, and the science center. (The science center is the best for kids 3-15) you can grab something to eat at one of the restaurants on the water but Baltimore seems like a sleepy city. The only thing unfortunately is that there are no new ships sailing from here.
