The cruise lines need to band together to lobby the city of Victoria for a free shuttle. The only ways to get into the main tourist area were to walk 1 1/2 miles of pay $20/person for a shuttle. We were told it is the way things are in Canada and is not the cruise line that supplies the free shuttles elsewhere, but the city/town/port themselves. Well, the cruise lines should show some muscle and get Canadian ports to provide free shuttles.

We did Butchart Gardens and the Butterfly garden. They were wonderful stops. The butterfly garden is a delightful experience. They have many varieties of the winged creatures as well as birds, other insects, and poison dart frogs. We got about 40 minutes there, but could have enjoyed twice as much time without getting bored. The Butchart Gardens were absolutely stunning in their beauty. We strolled these remarkable gardens for about 90 minutes and loved every minute of it. Our bus driver provided great narration going and returning to our ship. I would highly recommend this excursion.

The port was nice and clean. We did the horse drawn trolly ride. It was great. The narrator "Hannah" and her assistant were both very good. The narration was very informative. We learned a lot about B.C. It was beautiful. As a suggestion, maybe the RCMP should have a member of the mounted police stationed at the docks as the ships come in. They are a true symbol of Canada. This would be great pr.
