No, changing your cabin number on the Shipmate app does absolutely nothing to actually change your cabin on the ship for your particular sailing. You will need to work directly with the cruise line, or through your travel agent for that.

Shipmate is a way to organize and keep track of your sailings. They have nothing to do with the cruise lines. You have to contact your cruise line directly if you want to change your reservation.
