Took our first ride in a Uber to the other side of town and we meander back to the ship. We were disappointed we could not book any tours other than the hop on & hop off bus tour once we were on board. We waited too late. Would have liked to have gone up to Sonoma.

For locals like us, this is really just the space to get on and off. If you’re stopping here for a mid-trip port day, it’s a medium walking distance to Pier 39 and a strong walk to Fisherman’s Wharf. Pier 39 is a typical tourist trap, but the Fisherman’s Wharf (pier 45) has some of the best seafood restaurants in the city! Get a meal of cioppino, or just a very good cup of chowder. Ghirardelli’s Chocolate is nearby, too, and worth a tour. Spaces farther out can include the Embarcadero Center and Ferry Building (pier 1), or Golden Gate Park. Take the F tram line to get up and down the shoreline, if walking seems a bit too far for you.

Stayed 3 days in SF. Did Hop on/off bus, wine tasting tours, rode cable cars, had Irish coffee at the famous Buena Vista on the wharf, bought chocolate at Ghirardelli square and had 2 excellent dinners with friends. Just be aware that SF is pricey and there was a major convention in town when we were there which made it worst. Used Uber exclusively.

Our time in this city got cut short, because of delays in disembarking on the NCL Bliss (almost 4 hours until we got off) but definitely go to Golden Gate Park and check out the museums there. If you want a great view of downtown Delores Park is a must visit location.
