We arrived in the morning and were taking to airport (had an early flight) Did not see much of the city. Very short distance between ship terminal and airport.

The Port itself was a nice stop, with another full day at Port. We did the San Diego Zoo excursion but couldn't understand why it was as short as it was, from 8:45am-2:45pm and we didn't have to be back on the ship until 9:30pm. We didn't get to see the whole Zoo and wished we had taken an Uber/Lyft (15 minutes from the Port) to the Zoo and saw it on our own, so we weren't so rushed.

If you have not visited the Midway Museum it is excellent. Best of all it is right near the ship terminal and you can walk to it. You can spend 3 or more hours there. Exhibits are both inside and outdoors

After riding the light rail for 4 hours (we went into every direction on all the trains) for $7.00, we understand San Diego real well now. We went straight to the border and ate a delicious taco next to the transport broker and talked to people who have businesses at the border. I've crossed the border on foot many, many times, but have never stopped and talked to the business people on the U.S. side. It's a real cultural experience and it's safe to be around there. Then, we jumped on the train and went back to downtown and to the ship. Also Santa Fe train station is fun to go into.
