One of my favorite cities. We did a ghost tour the night before departure, and it was a great way to learn about local history we otherwise would not have learned.

This review is strictly for the Port of New Orleans. My wife and I cruised on the NCL Breakaway in November of 2018 and hated how we experienced the port itself. The people from security to the porters were unfriendly and less than courteous. I would have chalked this up to an isolated incident… However, in February we returned to the port sailing with our 3 children and my mom. Same completely indifferent and nonchalant (putting it mildly) attitudes. *Let me add that this in no way reflects on NCL. BOTH times as soon as we were through security and approached the checkin desk to receive our room keys the service did a complete 180. All smiles from there til the end of both our 7-day cruises. 👍🏾

The port itself is a major reason we book out of New Orleans. We love being able to park in the port garage (hint: if you are a disabled Vet with over 50% disability, parking is FREE!) Being inside the building already means you aren't exposed to the weather, and embarkation is organized and quick. DO keep your appointment. Being early means you wait longer. As for New Orleans, if you want shiny and new you're going to be let down. New Orleans is the most European of American Cities. It's very OLD...and that history and culture and architecture is wonderful for us. It has so very much to offer from the French Quarter to the Aquarium of the Americas to the PHENOMENAL WWII Museum!

It was a nice clean port however some of the workers outside directing you were very rude and inconsiderate. I don't think it's appropriate to yell at people when they're not standing in the correct line .
