We did an independent tour of Ancient Tonga-a family owned presentation of Tongan life-including dancing and food. Highly recommended.

As above got a local to take us roaming for $25 after shopping at the market. Asked to go snorkeling again, got taken to a resort for swimming and took us to the blow holes.

The market on the wharf was very good lots of gifts to buy shopping in the town ship was a bit poor not to much streets are easy to walk a round has a nice new wharf

Tonga felt like another Samoa, but different. Interesting to see how one basic culture is interpreted differently on the various islands.

Bus tour with our excellent guide Will. Aiming other sights saw the Palace, Royal Tombs, commemoration atthe site of visit by Captain James Cook in 1777. Then to Lavengatonga Beach and Oholei Resort where we were entertained then walked to Hina Cave where we had a fabulous Tongan cultural performance and the highlight was Polynesian Fire Dancers - fantastic.

We had little experience here. We flew in late in the evening and had to pay a fee because we entered Tonga by air and planned to leave by ship. We went straight to the flashy new International Dateline Hotel, then left for the ship right after breakfast. I did not feel well enough to go back ashore.
