Took the included tour of the city of Dunedin, also walked into Port Chalmers and to local beach. Interesting history of gold rush.

Port Chalmers is a pretty one street town with a couple of coffee shops and a supermarket if you want to buy stuff that you forgot or purchase chips, chocolate, etc. Some of the shops were closed which was a disappointment, however, they had arts and craft stalls set up in the town hall for cruise passengers to take home souvenirs which were beautiful! $10 US for the shuttle service to go into Dunedin Central.

We did a private excursión not through the ship. Booked it right there at the dock where the local tourist information center offered their own excursions - a mu h better value.

Fantastic, we did our own thing. Great talk from the info talk about what to expect, shuttle bus or local bus to Catch, need cash for the bud etc. found the bud drivers to be either nasty or lovely. Don’t think they like tourists! We witness our bus driver in return from the ship tell the waiting public there were no seats left, there were at least 12 seats! Disgusting behaviour and a disgrace to the country

We purchased a bus tour of the area and were able to get out into the countryside a bit with a wonderful view of the area, as well as have time to stroll the beautiful beach and waterfront. One of the better ports to visit.
