Nice city, but the waterfront is currently undergoing a major rework, so allow extra time if you are making your own way to the ship.

We had been to all ports several times before so we did not book any shore excursions but did still enjoy the time in each port.

Missed our tour booked through cruises only because off lack of signage and bad instruction.

Took a City tour and we went to Hobbiton. Had a great time there. The scenery is beautiful and the houses from the movie set of Lord of the Rings is there. Lunch was very good and we had an excellent guide.

Auckland was nice...we walked to the sky tower, despite the rain we went up, loved the view once it started clearing. We walked round looking at shops and older buildings. It was a nice day.

You have to see the Maori performance at the museum. Their voices were very moving. The natural museum is also worth touring while you are their. It helped us identify some of the birds we would see later on in our trip
