Did the Rangitoto Volcano. Tractor ride to a dead volcano. Ho hum. Should’ve just walked around Auckland. I think that would’ve been nice.

Weather was wet and some flooding, but we had umbrella and rain coats, so we still got to see and do things in Auckland! It has grown so much since we were there in 1996! So multicultural, with excellent entertainment and wonderful food! Great public transportation and a wonderful waterfront! We stayed two extra nights after the cruise, and had been there before, so we really enjoyed it!

It was an industrial port. We did the HOBBITON excursion, which was as expected. The bus driver was good at giving us some of the history of Auckland during the hour + drive to the movie set. The tour guide that took us through HOBBITON was full of information but seemed a bit condescending at times.

If the weather cooperates, the America Cup sailing yachts are a must. It is demanding as you maybe asked to do some manual labor. No real seating on the boat as such and boat is heeled over while sails are out but what a blast this was. Enjoyable couple of hours. About $250 each but it was worth it.
