Possibly the worst port for ‘things to do’ ever. You really need an excursion to make anything of this day. We needed a pharmacy. There is no pharmacy here. We made the trip to Aysen to find a pharmacy, luckily there were 3 there. We used the local bus for $1 per person (but is 500 local pp if you have peso) the ride took about 15-20 minutes. The buses come in different shapes and sizes. The ones we got were like little people carriers / mini vans with the name of where they are going in the front. Don’t be afraid to use them. The scenery on the way actually very nice but that’s about it. No DR was available until the afternoon and we sailed at 2. So maybe don’t get sick at or before this port :) At aysen, there was nothing apart from local life. At Chacabuco there were a few stalls selling magnets etc

The port itself is nothing to look at, but the excursion to the Simpson valley was very nice.

Not much to see at this port.

First time to see the Andes and we crossed them to see they beauty on both sides. This is an arid area and it did seem very dry when we visited. This was a 'tender' port and also very small as others stated in their reviews. We had this excursion on the 'wait list' and was not able to book until we were onboard. This was not our first choice but it was a very nice ride through the country.

We had a ship's tour to Coyhaique and Simpson Valley. This was basically a two hour bus ride to the city of Coyhaique, 30 minutes to visit a very small craft market, and 2 hour return to the ship. The scenery was nice but that was all.

Coyhaique & Simpson Valley - absolutely stunning scenery - again on your own time a little short

This was very interesting because we got to see volcanos that were in islands very close to the port. The excursion lasted a little longer than expected.
