Falkland Islands .....wow!!! We took the 4X4 out to see the Penguins at Volunteer Point -- you must go. But be prepared to do some heavy 4 wheeling. It took a few hours to get to the Penguins and they were so worth it!!! I was never a lover of penguins but seeing what we saw on this trip I can appreciate them so much more!!! Simon was our driver and he was a great driver -- not much of a talker -- but we knew he was one of the leads and knew how to get everyone who got stuck out of the mess they were in! I was shocked there was no roads to get out to where we were going. We were literally on farmers' land and you really need to know where you are going to even get to Volunteer Point. The box lunch wasn't a Celebrity meal but it was a little different and okay!!! (Sandwich, water, juice, and various snack items!!)

Loved, loved, loved this port. The Bluff Cove excursion was the best! A wonderful way to visit the penguins up close and personal. The tour guide was so much fun. The cafe was so welcoming and provided a hot drink and pastry on an otherwise very cold day. Loved being able to purchase an item made there in the Falklands with their local wool.

Bluff Cove Lagoon is absolutely wonderful. The King and Gentoo penguins were a treat, the Gentoos played in the ocean like children, chasing each other and riding waves!

Long waits for tenders to shore (as everyone gets off) so get up early. Super interesting, quaint British town that has great walk destinations. Fish & chips with a beer is a must. Step inside the phone booth, after you visit the churches and do a phtoto bomb at the whole bone arch.

Went of the Rookery Tour on private land. Did see several varieties of penguins. They would walk right by and were not phased by us interlopers. It was a fun 4x4 ride. The bus ride was fine. Guide explained the Falklands Conflict and were it happened. Wish we could have had time to see and hear more info on the Conflict. This is still a tender subject on both sides. Interesting to know people have had families there for up to 8 generations.

The Volunteers Point excursion was great to see all the penguins. However, to charge over $450 per person for a bumpy Land Rover ride and an uneatable lunch is unacceptable. The driver did not know much of the economics and wildlife of the islands.
