We have been to Amsterdam several times before so this time we took the 2 days we were there, to explore more of the countryside which we had missed before. Very good and informative guide whic( made it interesting as well as amusing.

You have a journey to get in there first of approx an hour and the city is filthy, cigarette butt's everywhere, no bins, and stunk of a certain drug, the city is no longer cared for which was sad to see as we visited years ago and enjoyed it but won't be returning. However shuttle service was very efficient.

Awful port, just like being on a building site! Amsterdam is about an hour away on buses, so takes a lot of your time from the day. Avoid at all costs.

P&O looked after us really well on our overnight visit. Buses ran constantly from 7.30am to 12 midnight, then hourly to 8am the following day from 8am to leaving time, the buses run constantly. There was also a special bus that took 6 wheelchairs. Ijmuiden has a small beach near the cruise terminal and some shops on the other side of the wall with walkway in front of the cruise terminal. Be wary, it has lots of steep steps for those with mobility issues or prams.
