Did not take an excursion because the entailed long bus rides.

Disastrous port - run by taxi mafia. If not on an excursion, you are forced to pay whatever the mafioso taxis want to charge. If not, you cannot leave the port. You are not allowed to walk to the street, and you are not allowed to have another taxi or Uber come to the port. Those taxis were screwing us and others around us, and became rude when passengers didn't succumb to their extortion. Will be writing NCL directly about this, and recommend the port be removed from future itineraries. We've sailed 24 times now, and NEVER, EVER have we been held hostage at any port of call like we were at Puerto Quetzal.

The gardens, shops and animals in the port area were very nice.

Cargo port, away from everything without even a shuttle. Got stuck on the ship.

There is nothing to do in Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala. I suggest that you book a shore excursion to Antigua.

not there long enough to do or see anything

Coffee plantation tour, very good. Sampled the coffee and bought 5 Ibs. Have a Gallo beer while you’re there.

We booked the Antigua On Your Own excursion through NCL. Mirko was our guide on the bus. He was very knowledgeable and escorted us to the Jade Factory in Antigua before turning us loose to explore. This is a beautiful, historical city. A lot to see. We were there on Sunday, December 11th, and saw the locals celebration of the Virgin Mary with a procession. Children dressed as angels, performers on stilts etc. Museo Nacional de Arte de Guatemala (MUNAG) was very cool.

Excellent port and excursion or old capital and coffee plantation. Had plenty of time to visit the jade manufacturing shop, and to make purchases. Enjoyed Guatemala as one of our favorite stops.

We went to Antigua. Really interesting historical place. The guide on the bus ride gave us a lot of information about Guatemala. Loved seeing the volcanoes. Nice lunch in Antigua. The vendors in Antigua were aggressive and persistent. Overall a good day!
