The wildlife and flora of Costa Rica are excellent. To see them it is best to book an excursion to a wildlife preserve or for a canal cruise.

Didn't book any excursions here. This is a fairly industrial port. We did walk around a bit, but returned to the ship early.

Beautiful area. Did an excursion bus, boat and train combination. Everything was good except the train. It was awful.

Sloth excursion was great

Puerto Limon was fun and the people were very nice. We did the highlights of Limon: walked Cahuita National Park and visited a banana plantation.

It was a town, so no complaints. Got to walk around, see people, the park, the beach, it was fine.

Went on a canal excursion with a knowledgeable tour guide.

Took an optional excursion to the rain forest that was quite weak

I did another excursion thru Princess (solo traveller and first time in Central America). Limon looked like a fairly poor place in parts but no street vendors that I could see. Our tour guide was Edgar and he was first class. We spent about an hour walking in the rain forest and saw spiders, a Hermit Crab, a troop of Howler Monkeys, vultures, a poisonous frog and some sloths. Great views of the Caribbean too. We then took a small ship to look for more wildlife and spotted iguanas, exotic birds, sloths and more monkeys. After a short drive thru Limon we returned to the ship.
