Book a balcony cabin for this cruise. On deck 10 forward, at the very bow, there is a door on the port side. It is not labeled but it leads to an open bow area which is great for viewing during the canal traverse.

Takes all day. Find shade when you can, and stay hydrated. Take a break now and then. You can always watch on your stateroom TV.

We observed the crossing from several areas of the ship. This was the second best (for me) part of the cruise. Very unique and interesting. The cruise director, Valerie, was very informative as we passed through the locks.
