We did our own thing in Toba. It is a small town so easy to walk around on your own and visit a few shrines or the aquarium or the pearl divers. If this doesn’t do it for you then advise to book a trip taking you further out of Toba

You have to take tender from ship at this port. People were so friendly and helpful. Pearl Island just a short walk from we’re you are dropped off by the tender and we enjoyed the pearl diving museum and demonstration divers on the island. Show your cruise card for a discount.

The Ise Shrine is beautiful. The Pearl Museum is worth the trip just to see the woman divers if nothing else. Take the scenic byway to the top of the mountain for spectacular views of the bay

We took a ship excursion, as we love the guarantee that the ship is not going to leave if there are any issues during the day, meaning a late return to the ship

Interesting; had an excursion here. The guide’s English was appalling, but the temple we visited was well worth the trip.

The port area has a few things to do but Ise Shrine is the main attraction- it is easy to do on your own via trains and a local bus or walk. Worth doing for sure.
