We did a best of tour arranged via the cruise line. It was a circa 1.5 hour drive into ho chi minh. We went to a war museum and then had lunch at a nice hotel with vietnamese dancing and music. The food was ok but nothing amazing. Then we had a couple of hours to have a wander which is what we did...taking in all the atmosphere and energy of the city. It was a bank holiday so wasn't as hectic as usual and I have been before when the roads are absolutely crazy!

Oddly enough,I dreaded this port but to my surprise it ended up being my favorite..but only by chance. I was going to stay on the ship but saw tents selling souvenirs outside and grabbed $40 and went outside. As I was looking at the tents with other guests that decided to stay a bus pulled up. We all looked at each other perplexed..so I asked. It was a free bus into town for shopping. So all of us stragglers hopped on. About a 30 minute drive. It was an average area. So I skipped the shopping to walk to the main intersection and decided to turn around and go back, but multiple motorcycle drivers asked to give tours I said no to all until the last one. He spoke some English and was polite. So I said f@&$ it ,he said $40 perfect that's all I had. I hopped on his new motorcycle and went. It was the best experience I saw way more than all of the excursions combined and then some. He was so cool. I wish I could name everything I saw but I don't have all day😍😍😍

Hired a driver with another couple for $40 a piece to take us to the Cu Cui tunnels then to Saigon to reunification palace, post office and Thane market. Busy day but I'm glad we did it.

Really enjoyed the trip to the Imperial Palace and seeing a lot of communist art and relics, very intriguing. Loved the city and the food over all.

Do a day trip to Ho Chi Minh. We did a private tour with Private Asia Tours. You get to see more than the cruise ship tours and there is more flexibility

If I did this cruise again I would never take the ships excursion. There was no free time in the city at all, also there was a lot of standing around waiting. There was no way to identify the essence of the city.

This stop was skipped because of mechanical problems with the ship.

Book an excursion, when you leave the port it’s a busy street and not much to do. We did the 9 hour Cu Chi tunnel excursion. We drove around Ho Chi Minh City, we stopped at the war museum for an hour, then we stopped at the Presidential Palace, and finally we went to the Cu Chi Tunnels. It was a great day and we learned so much. Also had the best tour guide ever. Love Vietnam.
